Job summary

UNITED BC TEAM SDN BHD is seeking a Field Service Engineer to lead on-site installation, commissioning, troubleshooting and preventive maintenance of automation systems. The role requires hands-on engineering ability, problem solving, and coordinating field service tasks across customer sites.

You will guide junior engineers, ensure safety and quality standards, and act as a primary technical contact during installation and after-sales service.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5–8 years of field service/industrial automation experience.
• Hands-on experience with sensors, actuators and motor controls.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.

Responsibilities

• Lead installation, commissioning and maintenance of automation systems.

Job description

This role is responsible for leading and executing on-site technical service activities, including installation, commissioning, troubleshooting and maintenance of UB's industrial automation and smart manufacturing systems. This role requires strong hands‑on engineering capabilities, independent problem‑solving skills and the ability to coordinate field service activities, guide junior engineers and manage customer expectations. The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring reliable system performance, timely issue resolution and high‑quality service delivery across customer sites.

Key responsibilities

Lead and execute installation, setup and commissioning of automation equipment and systems, including PLC, sensors, conveyors, robots and WMS/MES‑integrated systems

Ensure equipment and systems meet customer specifications, safety standards and operational requirements

Lead troubleshooting activities involving mechanical, electrical, PLC and software‑related issues

Diagnose root causes and implement corrective actions to minimise equipment downtime

Plan and conduct scheduled preventive maintenance to maintain equipment reliability and system uptime

Lead and coordinate field service activities to ensure tasks are completed according to project schedules and service requirements

Guide and coach junior Field Service Engineers in technical execution, troubleshooting and customer‑site practices

Act as a key technical contact for customers during installation, commissioning and after‑sales service activities

Prepare service reports, root cause analysis and corrective action documentation

Support overseas project deployment, equipment installation, commissioning and technical service at customer locations in China or India

About you

Certificate, Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering or a related field

Minimum 5–8 years of relevant experience in field service, industrial automation, equipment installation, commissioning or maintenance

Previous experience guiding junior engineers, coordinating site activities or leading technical service tasks

Hands‑on experience with sensors, actuators, motor controls and industrial electrical panels

Hands‑on experience with PLC systems, automation equipment and industrial control systems

Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings and technical documentation

Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic and root‑cause analysis skills

Able to work independently, make technical decisions and coordinate cross‑functional teams

Good customer‑facing communication, problem‑solving and team leadership skills

Willing to travel locally and internationally, including overseas deployment of approximately 3–6 months
