Job summary

HL Forklift Sdn Bhd in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah is seeking a Senior / Experienced Forklift Technician to inspect, troubleshoot, repair and perform preventive maintenance on diesel and electric forklifts. The role requires practical mechanical repair experience, strong hands-on ability and systematic fault diagnosis.

Overtime and occasional travel to client sites may be required. You will guide junior technicians, complete repair records, and ensure safe, reliable forklift operation after handover.

Qualifications

• Practical mechanical repair experience with hands-on ability.
• Forklift repair experience is preferred.
• Experience in automotive, lorry, heavy machinery or related mechanical fields encouraged.
• Good troubleshooting knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems and electrical systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspection, troubleshooting, repair and preventive maintenance for diesel and electric forklifts.
• Diagnose mechanical, diesel engine, hydraulic and electrical system faults using systematic troubleshooting procedures.
• Independently identify root causes and complete assigned repair jobs with minimal supervision.
• Handle general and complex forklift repair work, including customer-site breakdown support when required.
• Conduct testing after repairs to ensure forklifts are safe, reliable and operating properly before handover.
• Take full responsibility for assigned jobs from initial inspection through repair completion and reporting.
• Report repair progress, unresolved technical issues and recurring faults promptly to the Service Manager.
• Guide and assist junior technicians when required and share practical technical knowledge and repair experience.
• Complete repair records accurately, including faults identified, work performed and parts replaced.
• Use and maintain company tools, workshop equipment, spare parts and service vehicles responsibly.
• Keep workshop areas, tools and service vehicles clean, organised and safe.
• Follow the Service Manager's job allocation, service procedures and work instructions.
• Be willing to work overtime and travel outstation when required.

SENIOR / EXPERIENCED FORKLIFT TECHNICIAN

Salary: RM2,500 – RM3,500 per month

Salary will be based on relevant experience, technical ability, troubleshooting skills and level of independence.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

REQUIREMENTS

Practical mechanical repair experience with strong hands-on technical ability.

Forklift repair experience is preferred.

Candidates with experience in automotive, lorry, heavy machinery, diesel machinery, industrial equipment or related mechanical fields are encouraged to apply.

Good troubleshooting knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems and general mechanical components.

Able to independently inspect, diagnose faults systematically and complete repair jobs with minimal supervision.

Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to take initiative and find practical solutions to technical problems.

Responsible, disciplined and able to complete assigned jobs within the required timeframe.

Able to properly maintain and take care of company tools, spare parts and equipment.

Willing to learn and work with electric forklifts, lithium battery forklifts and new forklift technologies.

Able to work effectively as part of a team and follow the Service Manager's work arrangements.

Willing to work overtime and travel outstation when required.

Possess a valid driving licence.

CANDIDATES FROM OTHER MECHANICAL BACKGROUNDS ARE WELCOME

Forklift experience is preferred but not compulsory.

Candidates with strong practical repair skills from other mechanical backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
