Job summary

Ichor Systems, Inc. in Malaysia is seeking a Materials Specialist to join our Supply Chain / Materials Management team to ensure material readiness and production continuity by proactively managing supply constraints, supplier performance, and demand variability.

You will manage constrained materials, drive supplier recovery plans, and coordinate cross-functional actions to protect factory build plans and customer commitments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or related field.
• 7+ years of experience in manufacturing supply chain or materials management.
• 3–5+ years in material program management in a complex manufacturing environment.
• Experience managing material constraints, shortages, and recovery plans.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems and data (item master data, BOM, planning parameters).
• Strong cross-functional collaboration with manufacturing, planning, procurement, engineering, finance, and suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Monitor material availability against factory build plans and identify shortages.
• Lead resolution of constrained materials with root-cause analysis and action plans.
• Engage suppliers to address capacity, lead-time risks, and delivery shortfalls.
• Own material recovery plans, track commitments, and drive timely resolution.
• Communicate material availability and risks to cross-functional teams and leadership.
• Coordinate critical-part escalations and assess impact on production and customers.
• Develop demand-volatility buffers and risk-buy strategies to protect production.
• Maintain ERP/MRP data, planning parameters, and BOM-related information.
• Coordinate expedite activities and costs aligned with business priorities.
• Establish and execute standard processes for material program management and reviews.

In this role, you will manage constrained materials, drive supplier recovery plans, and coordinate cross-functional actions to protect factory build plans and customer commitments.

Responsibilities

• Monitor material availability against factory builds plans and proactively identify shortages, supply gaps, and timing risks.
• Lead the resolution of constrained materials by defining root causes, recovery options, and clear action plans.
• Engage suppliers to address capacity constraints, lead-time risks, delivery shortfalls, and other supply issues.
• Own material recovery plans, track commitments, and drive timely resolution through regular reviews and escalations.
• Communicate material availability, risks, recovery actions, and potential customer impacts to cross-functional teams and leadership.
• Coordinate critical-part escalations by evaluating options, trade-offs, and impacts to production and customer commitments.
• Develop and manage demand-volatility buffers and risk-buy strategies to protect production continuity while balancing inventory and cost exposure.
• Maintain accurate ERP/MRP data, including planning parameters, sourcing records, item master data, and BOM-related information.
• Coordinate expedite activities and costs while ensuring decisions align with business priorities.
• Establish and execute standard processes for material program management, risk tracking, reviews, and escalations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in manufacturing supply chain, materials management, procurement, production planning, or a related field.
• 3–5+ years of experience in material program management, supply program management, or a lead materials role within a complex manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated experience managing material constraints, shortages, supplier recovery plans, and production schedule risks.
• Experience working with ERP/MRP systems, including item master data, sourcing records, planning parameters, BOM structures, and MRP signals.
• Strong experience collaborating with manufacturing, planning, procurement, engineering, finance, suppliers, and other cross-functional stakeholders.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to clearly communicate risks, recovery plans, trade-offs, and business impacts.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, prioritization, and decision-making skills in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, drive accountability, and work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Preferred Requirements

• Master’s Degree (MBA or MS) in Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, or a related field.
• APICS / ASCM certification, including CPIM or CSCP.
• Six Sigma or Lean certification (Green Belt or Black Belt).
• ERP platform training or certification, such as SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics.
