Job summary

Adient Automotive Holding (M) Sdn Bhd in Malaysia is seeking a Materials and Planning Manager to oversee materials, receiving and warehouse activities, and to analyze demand to prevent delivery issues. You will support Production Planning and ensure optimized planning with integrity and cost control.

The role requires more than 5 years in automotive material planning and proven leadership, with expertise in MRP/ERP/SAP systems and a strong focus on on-time delivery and inventory accuracy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Management or Business Administration.
• More than 5 years’ experience in automotive business with knowledge of material buying, including at least 3 years in a management role.
• Experience in production control, inventory control, and product planning under just-in-time principles.
• Exposure to import/export under BOI regulations and familiarity with MRP/ERP/SAP systems.

Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise materials, receiving and warehouse activities.
• Analyze customer demand and identify potential delivery problems.
• Support Production Planning to optimize planning with high security for customer delivery.
• Support Material Planning for direct and indirect materials to arrive on time and at the right quantity, at the lowest cost.
• Drive full utilization of the MRP system and minimize manual calculations.
• Coordinate with internal functions and suppliers for customs formality and duty exemptions where applicable.
• Develop corrective action plans based on supplier performance evaluations to improve service quality.
• Develop and analyze transportation modes and packaging to meet cost targets and MOQ standards.
• Verify information on export & import policy and procedures and communicate changes to internal and external stakeholders.
• Lead cycle counts and quarterly PI counts; manage inventory variance and authorize adjustments within tolerance.

Job description

Manage and supervise the activities of materials, receiving and warehouse.

To analyze customer demand and identify potential delivery problems.

To support Production Planning function and ensure production planning is optimized with high security for customer delivery.

To support Material Planning function for direct and indirect materials, to arrive on time and right quantity, at the lowest cost.

Driving a full utilization of MRP system. Minimize manual calculation to avoid errors.

To coordinate with internal function and suppliers to ensure customs formality is following its procedure and to maximize duty exemption scheme where applicable

Based on performance evaluation on suppliers and services, develop the corrective action plan, then service quality shall continuously improved

To develop and analyze transportation mode and packaging to meet cost target and MOQ standard.

Verify correct information received concerning export & import policy, regulation and operation procedure, then communicate within the company and suppliers through procedure changes and orientation if necessary.

Annual stock count or cycle count activity experience are required.

Verify correct information received after cycle count and approved inventory adjustment if exceeding tolerance level i.e. limited to Materials Manager at 10%max.

Manage Cycle count & quarterly PI Count.

Full responsibility to lead and support in Physical Inventory activity. Lead and analyze variances where applied.

Verify and develop logistics plan and strategy to reach specify target lead time and cost every fiscal year.

Verify and develop inventory turns, total inbound freight, supplier reject, supplier delivery to achieve a target.

To ensure that demand from customers is correct and feedback for any error information appeared at the company with customer demand change review.

Closely working with warehouse operation for smooth information flow.

Conduct any contingency plan to support communication and replacement of product which customers required.

Lead and provide coaching to planning team members to be aligned with company direction and standard.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager and to ensure that achieving continually exceed our customer’s increasing expectations.

Job Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Engineering, Industrial Management or Business Administration.

More 5 years’ experience in automotive business and knowledge of material buying with at least 3 years in management level

Production control, inventory control, and product planning under just in time.

Import and export under BOI regulations

Expert in MFG Pro will be a most advantageous and preferable on MRP/ERP/SAP system background

Fundamental manufacturing, material and logistics knowledge

Recognizes inconsistencies with new product launches

Exposure to disciplines with customers and suppliers

Supply chain management understanding, system knowledge, manufacturing experience, project management, customer (OEM) knowledge

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Good command of spoken and written English

Must be willing to work in Tanjung Malim
