The Marketing Manager, Malaysia is responsible for developing and executing integrated marketing and communications initiatives to support business objectives, strengthen brand positioning and enhance engagement with internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
1. Marketing & Communications Strategy
- Develop and execute the Malaysia marketing and communications plan in alignment with regional and global strategies.
- Translate regional and global marketing initiatives into relevant and effective local activities.
- Work closely with country management and business divisions to understand business priorities and provide appropriate marketing support.
- Monitor market trends, customer needs and competitive developments to identify opportunities to strengthen market presence.
- Provide marketing insights, recommendations and regular updates to management and key stakeholders.
2. External Communications & Corporate Positioning
- Plan and coordinate external communications activities in accordance with company policies, brand guidelines and communication strategies.
- Support the positioning of the organisation and its leadership team through relevant corporate communication initiatives.
- Develop and coordinate corporate announcements, campaigns, marketing content and other external communications.
- Ensure consistent brand identity, messaging and tone across all external communication channels.
- Collaborate with regional and global communications teams to localise campaigns and initiatives for the Malaysian market.
3. Internal Communications & Employee Engagement
- Develop and execute internal communication initiatives to keep employees informed, connected and engaged.
- Support country leadership in communicating business updates, organisational changes, initiatives and key messages.
- Manage and coordinate local content for internal communication platforms.
- Develop communications and content for townhalls, employee engagement activities and internal events.
- Support initiatives that promote company values, culture, employee pride and sense of belonging.
- Ensure internal communications are timely, relevant and aligned with the organisation’s overall direction.
4. Marketing Campaigns, Digital & Brand Management
- Develop and execute local marketing campaigns to support business and commercial objectives.
- Support the implementation of regional and global brand strategies through relevant local initiatives.
- Manage marketing content and materials across digital, social media and other relevant channels.
- Ensure consistent application of corporate identity and brand guidelines throughout Malaysia.
- Develop, adapt and coordinate creative assets and marketing content according to local requirements.
- Monitor campaign and digital performance and recommend improvements to enhance effectiveness.
- Coordinate with external creative agencies, suppliers and other marketing partners where required.
5. Events, Fairs & Exhibitions
- Plan, coordinate and execute customer events, seminars, webinars, trade fairs and exhibitions.
- Work with business divisions and commercial teams to identify relevant events and marketing opportunities.
- Manage event communications, promotional materials, branding and supporting marketing activities.
- Ensure events are delivered professionally, within approved budgets and in accordance with brand standards.
- Evaluate event outcomes and recommend improvements for future initiatives.
6. Sponsorships & Partnerships
- Identify and evaluate sponsorship and partnership opportunities aligned with business and brand objectives.
- Review sponsorship proposals and provide recommendations to management and relevant business divisions.
- Coordinate approved sponsorship activities and ensure appropriate brand visibility and exposure.
- Monitor sponsorship outcomes and assess overall effectiveness and return on investment.
- Build strong working relationships with country management, business divisions, commercial teams and regional/global Marketing & Communications teams.
- Act as the key marketing and communications contact for Malaysia.
- Manage relationships with external agencies, creative partners, event organisers, media and marketing suppliers.
- Coordinate multiple stakeholders, vendors and projects to ensure timely and effective delivery of marketing initiatives.
8. Budget & Performance Management
- Manage the Malaysia marketing budget and ensure activities are delivered within approved budgets.
- Monitor marketing expenditure and maintain appropriate budget controls.
- Track the performance of campaigns, events, digital activities and other marketing initiatives.
- Prepare regular marketing performance reports and management updates.
- Measure the effectiveness and business impact of marketing activities and provide recommendations based on results.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Public Relations or a related discipline.
- 6–8 years of relevant experience in marketing, communications, corporate communications or a related field.
- Experience within a multinational organisation would be an advantage.
- Proven experience in developing and executing integrated marketing and communications campaigns.
- Strong experience in brand management, content development, digital marketing, events and stakeholder management.
- Experience working with senior management and cross-functional teams.
- Experience managing external agencies, creative partners, event organisers, vendors and marketing suppliers.
- Good understanding of the Malaysian business environment and market.
- Experience within logistics, supply chain, transportation or B2B environments would be an added advantage.
