HAVE FUN KL SDN. BHD. in Malaysia is seeking a strategic General Manager of Marketing to lead a 5–7 person team across brand and retail experiences.
You will design annual strategies, translate them into executable goals, and drive cross-functional collaboration with Operations, Finance, and Procurement. You will build systems, dashboards, and processes to measure ROI, brand visibility, and customer traffic.
Jora Malaysia will close on 9th September 2026. Thank you for being with us, we are cheering you on as you continue your career journey.
1. Build Systems: Enable a Self-Running Marketing Engine
Review existing marketing workflows (campaign planning, brand communication, store linkage, CRM management, etc.), identify bottlenecks and areas for improvement, and establish standardized procedures and collaboration mechanisms.
Build project management frameworks and cross-department coordination mechanisms (e.g., workflows with Operations, Finance, Procurement) to ensure issues surface naturally within processes and are resolved through structured rules rather than manager-driven follow-ups.
Introduce or optimize marketing tools/dashboards to ensure goal visibility and real-time data feedback.
2. Set Goals: Ensure Efforts Are Directed and Results Are Measurable
Support the General Manager in formulating annual/quarterly marketing strategies and translating them into executable and assessable team and individual goals.
Develop methodology for goal cascading based on data and business logic (e.g., by brand, by channel, by campaign type), ensuring accountability is clearly assigned and everyone owns a measurable target.
3. Lead the Team: Develop Talent Rather Than Deplete It
Manage a team of 5-7 members, conduct performance reviews and capability coaching. Identify high-potential talent and empower them; intervene or adjust where inefficiency exists.
Partner with HR to build a fair, transparent and evidence-based performance evaluation system - reward contribution, address underperformance and eliminate "equal distribution regardless of results".
Foster a culture that focuses on issues, not individuals - driving the team's evolution from "execution-driven" to "thinking-driven".
4. Control Process & Deliver Results
Monitor key project progress through milestone reviews and data dashboards - not micromanaging details, but ensuring risks are visible and resources are invested where they produce the highest value.
Be accountable for core marketing outcomes such as ROI of campaigns, brand visibility, customer traffic conversion and report progress regularly to the General Manager, including proposing systematic improvement plans.
Requirements
1. Must-Haves
Bachelor's degree or above; Marketing, Business Administration, Advertising or related majors preferred.
Minimum 3 years of marketing experience in entertainment or F&B physical retail sectors (e.g., KTV, bars, restaurant chains, livehouse, quick-service restaurants or beverage chains), with strong understanding of consumer psychology, marketing rhythms and store-coordination pain points in such environments.
At least 2 years of direct team management experience (not dotted-line), including authority over performance assessments.
2. Core Competencies
Systems Thinking: Approaches problems through processes, frameworks and standards instead of personal heroism. Required to provide examples during interview of mechanisms you built that drove long-term improvement.
Goal Management: Familiar with OKR/KPI frameworks; able to independently break down goals and design assessment models.
Data Sensitivity: Able to interpret reports to evaluate business health and avoid being misled by vanity metrics.
Communication & Principles: Mature in communicating with peers and senior management - capable of promoting frameworks tactfully while upholding non-negotiable standards.
3. Preferred Qualifications
Experience managing marketing resources across multiple brands or outlets.
Experience navigating a team through a transition from rough to refined operations.
Why This Role Is Worth Considering
Listed Company Platform: SGX mainboard listed, financially stable with strong marketing budgets - beyond the trial-and-error stage.
Real Authority: Not a nominal role - you participate directly in departmental decisions, lead system design and own team performance; strong career value.
Clear Advancement Path: The General Manager views this position as a key succession candidate; strong performers may also expand horizontally into other business units within the Group.
