Job summary

BROOKS INSTRUMENT MALAYSIA SDN. BHD. seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to support production processes for new and existing products across assigned Business Units to optimize efficiency and performance.

The role covers process development, equipment maintenance, capacity/cost estimation, collaboration with Design Engineering, PFMEA involvement, and leading pre-pilot/pilot activities to drive improvements in yield and overall manufacturing effectiveness.

Responsibilities

• 1. Develop processes and changes to process instructions (OMS) by studying product requirements and researching, designing, modifying manufacturing methods and equipment.
• 2. Provide technical expertise and maintenance related to manufacturing and production equipment, including responding to helpdesk tickets.
• 3. Estimate production times, capacity, staffing and costs for new designs or existing products for management decision support.
• 4. Interface with Design Engineering on new product design and introduction, ensuring cost effectiveness and manufacturability.
• 5. Assist Sustaining Engineering with fixture design improvements for poka-yoke and quality assurance.
• 6. Support hardware/software validations on production equipment and ensure process release through ECN.
• 7. Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing workflow, space needs, and equipment layout.
• 8. Lead Gate 5 pre-pilot and pilot activities for new product development and PFMEA involvement.
• 9. Prepare reports on KPIs (yield/scrap/rework) and implement manufacturing improvements.
• 10. Review and implement engineering change orders to sustain production and improve yield.
• 11. Mentor manufacturing technicians, team leads, and operators.
• 12. Interact with peers in the U.S. and Korea locations as needed.
• 13. Perform other duties as assigned.

Responsible for supporting production processes and daily operations for new and existing products for assigned Business Units to optimize efficiency and performance.

Scope of duties

1. 1. Responsible for the development of processes and changes to process instructions (OMS) by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; and conferring with equipment vendors.
2. 2. Provide technical expertise and maintenance related to manufacturing and production equipment, including responding quickly and efficiently to helpdesk tickets.
3. 3. Estimate production times, capacity analysis, staffing requirements, and related costs for new designs or existing products to provide information for management decisions.
4. 4. Interface with Design Engineering on new product design and introduction, as well as product changes, to ensure cost effectiveness, manufacturing feasibility, and productivity are considered at every step of the process.
5. 5. Assist Sustaining Engineering in the development of fixture design or improve existing fixtures for poke-yoke or error-proofing and quality assurance.
6. 6. Support hardware and software validations on production equipment prior to release to operations and ensure processes are followed to release through ECN.
7. 7. Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
8. 8. Support new product development by leading Gate 5 pre-pilot and pilot activities, including reports and recommendations, and participate in PFMEA completion.
9. 9. Prepare reports summarizing information or trends related to manufacturing key performance indicators (ie. yield/scrap/rework) and use that information to identify and implement improvements in manufacturing.
10. 10. Review, communicate, and implement engineering change orders to sustain production, reduce cost, and improve yield.
11. 11. Provide guidance to manufacturing technicians, team leads, and operators.
12. 12. Interact, as needed, with peers in both U.S. and Korea locations.
