PURPOSE
The Manufacturing Engineering Engineer is responsible for developing, improving, and sustaining manufacturing processes to achieve excellence in safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost. The role supports production operations through process optimization, capacity planning, line balancing, automation, tooling design, work standardization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
The incumbent will work closely with Production, Quality, Supply Chain, Maintenance, EHS, and Product Engineering teams to improve manufacturing performance, support new product introduction (NPI), and drive operational excellence within the plant
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve manufacturing processes to achieve optimal productivity, quality, safety, and operational efficiency.
- Responsible for analyse manufacturing workflows, identify bottlenecks, and implement improvements to optimize cycle time, labour utilization, throughput, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
- Responsible for designing and maintaining manufacturing process documentation, including process flow charts, standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, PFMEA, control plans, and line layouts.
- Responsible for conduct line balancing studies and manpower optimization initiatives to achieve targeted production output while supporting Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Responsible to lead process improvement projects using Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, Six Sigma, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), and waste elimination methodologies.
- Responsible to support production teams in troubleshooting manufacturing issues related to assembly, fabrication, testing, material flow, tooling, and equipment performance.
- Responsible for Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) initiatives to improve manufacturability, reduce costs, shorten lead times, and improve product quality.
- Responsible to support New Product Introduction (NPI) by developing manufacturing processes, validating production methods, establishing production standards, and ensuring readiness for mass production.
- Responsible for evaluating, specifying, designing, and implementing tooling, fixtures, jigs, poka-yoke systems, and automation solutions to improve productivity and process capability.
- Responsible to support plant digitalization initiatives including Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), barcode traceability, digital work instructions, production dashboards, and Industry 4.0 projects.
- Responsible to collaborate with Quality Engineering to reduce defects, improve process capability, and support corrective and preventive action activities.
- Responsible to manufacturing processes comply with safety requirements, quality standards, and applicable company policies.
- Responsible to support equipment installation, commissioning, process validation, and factory layout optimization projects.
- Participate actively in EHS programs and ensure safe manufacturing practices are incorporated into process design and improvement activities.
- The incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned by management that contribute to plant operational objectives.
