Job summary

Advanced Energy in Penang, Malaysia, seeks an Engineer II - Draft to develop, maintain, and improve manufacturing documentation. You will translate 3D CAD models into production-ready assembly processes and collaborate with Design, Manufacturing, NPI, Quality, and Production teams to reflect design intent and manufacturing requirements.

Qualifications include strong drafting skills, experience with SolidWorks and CAD tools, and a Bachelor’s in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering.

Qualifications

• Proficient in SolidWorks, SolidWorks Composer, Adobe Illustrator, or equivalent CAD and graphical documentation tools.
• Experience in technical drafting, manufacturing documentation, assembly instruction development, or production support.
• Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings, 3D CAD models, BOMs, assembly structures, and manufacturing specifications.
• Understanding of manufacturing assembly processes, production workflows, and documentation control practices.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain detailed manufacturing drawings, OMS, assembly work instructions, exploded views, and visual aids from approved 3D CAD models, engineering releases, sketches, layouts, and technical notes.
• Translate complex 3D CAD assemblies into clear, accurate, and production-ready assembly documentation, defining assembly sequence, fastening methods, tolerances, torque specs, and inspection checkpoints.
• Support DFMA, PFMEA, and process optimization by incorporating manufacturing requirements into assembly documentation.
• Recommend documentation and design improvements that enhance manufacturability, assembly efficiency, product quality, ergonomics, and repeatability.
• Maintain engineering documentation, CAD files, OMS records, and graphical assets within document control systems per company standards.
• Maintain and verify BOMs against drawings, 3D models, and requirements for accuracy and consistency.
• Support ECO implementation by updating drawings, OMS, and related documentation with revision control and traceability.
• Verify consistency among CAD models, drawings, BOMs, OMS, and released docs before production release.
• Act as liaison between engineering and manufacturing to ensure design intent is translated into production processes.
• Adhere to Quality Management, Health & Safety, Environmental Compliance, 5S, Code of Conduct, and General Duty of Care requirements.
• Maintain confidentiality of products, processes, technology, materials, and business information.
