Job summary

Reinsurance Group of America, Incorporated is seeking a Valuation Manager in Malaysia to develop and maintain actuarial models and assumptions for statutory and GAAP reporting. The role supports financial analysis, monitors experience, and partners with stakeholders on strategic initiatives and cross-functional projects.

You will drive process improvements, strengthen governance, and provide insights for business decisions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative discipline (required).
  • Qualified fellows or nearly qualified associates with at least 7 years’ working experience in life insurance/reinsurance (required).
  • Knowledge of actuarial reporting frameworks such as US GAAP, US STAT, or local regulatory reporting (required).
  • Experience with actuarial modelling systems (Prophet, AXIS) and data analytics tools is an advantage (required).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex information into actionable insights and communicate with stakeholders. (required).
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and results-oriented, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. (required).

Responsibilities

  • Support actuarial reporting across multiple bases including US GAAP, US STAT, Tax, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance actuarial models, valuation processes, and reporting tools for business growth.
  • Drive process improvement, automation, and transformation initiatives to improve efficiency and scalability.
  • Strengthen actuarial controls, governance, and documentation for audits and regulatory needs.
  • Perform financial analysis, experience monitoring, and assumption reviews to inform decisions.
  • Partner with local, regional, and global stakeholders on strategic initiatives and cross-functional projects.

Position Overview

The Valuation Manager role is responsible for the development and maintenance of actuarial models and assumptions to support statutory and GAAP reporting requirements. It also performs financial analysis and reporting to support business decision making and partners with local, regional stakeholders on strategic initiatives and cross functional projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support actuarial reporting across multiple reporting bases, including US GAAP, US STAT, Tax, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance actuarial models, valuation processes, and reporting tools to support business growth and evolving reporting requirements.
  • Drive process improvement, automation, and transformation initiatives, taking ownership of projects from concept through implementation to improve efficiency, scalability, and operational excellence.
  • Strengthen actuarial controls, governance frameworks, and documentation to support audit, regulatory, and risk management requirements.
  • Perform financial analysis, experience monitoring, and assumption reviews to provide insights into business performance and emerging trends, and support key business decisions.
  • Partner with local, regional and global stakeholders on strategic initiatives, new business implementations, and cross-functional projects, with opportunities to independently lead workstreams and mentor junior team members.
