SMBC SSC Sdn Bhd in Malaysia seeks a seasoned project manager to lead banking and IT projects within SSC and collaborate with regional offices. Responsibilities include BPR, system implementation, risk management, and stakeholder coordination.
You will monitor progress, resolve issues, drive process improvements, ensure regulatory compliance, and deliver milestones on time. Strong communication, initiative, and time-management are essential to align with strategic goals.
To manage various projects, including business process re-engineering (BPR), system implementation and other Operations related projects. He/She will be working together with other business analysts in Shared Services Centre (SSC) and the Regional office in Singapore and other stakeholders in Head Office and IT department to deliver these projects.
To proactively monitor project execution and to effectively identify risk/issues/dependencies as they arise, including timely communication throughout the project lifecycle. Take ownership of critical issues and ensures timely resolution and implement mitigating plans against identified risks and issues.
To organize, participate and/or facilitate stakeholder meetings where appropriate, ensuring relevant management information is captured and analyzed including follow up on important actions and decisions from meetings.
To undertake project tasks as required, documenting, tracking and report project progress to ensure project deadlines are met with deliverables aligned with the goals and objectives.
To work with the relevant stakeholders to remove blockers and/or provide solutions where applicable, ensuring stakeholder views are managed towards the best solution.
To ensure projects adhere to frameworks and alt documentation is maintained appropriately for each project.
To manage and drive process development activities for assigned business areas and functions with the objective to develop and implement a robust process to achieve efficiency, compliance with regulatory guidelines, service standard and supporting business direction in line with strategic goals.
To be involved in user requirements and system functional specifications studies for system enhancements and for new requirements, to develop solution in-line with the global system.
To identify and report problems with expected results and suggestion for solution, if possible. When problem resolution is not possible, look into possibilities to re-engineer processes or to find a workable work around method to address the problem in hand and to elevate for management decision where such scenarios are faced. If resolved, the appropriate training of the re-engineered processes or the work around need to be carried out for the respective ops team and to ensure ops update the necessary procedure manuals.
To provide new system training requirement to users and assist users to resolve production problems through timely resolution i.e. defects identified in production during new system roll out.
To initiate post-implementation reviews, solicit user's feedback and update production users for any change in system functionality.
To identify areas for improvement to streamline the workflow of existing product or to identify opportunities for process improvement then prioritization of system enhancements through impact analysis in terms of affected volume, cost savings, unit processing time and straight through processing.
Manages assigned/identifed Standardization projects, adopting the agreed governance and project management framework. Ensure adherence to best practices in all aspects of managing the projects.
Work with IT and other related stakeholders to ensure system requirements are documented for development or enhancement to enable continuous process improvements in SSC.
Provides support to standardization initiatives driven by other department to drive efficiency and controls in SSC.
This includes Cost tracking and management, Operations Quality Assurance and other relevant projects.
Working with various Operation Managers in SSC to collect data, analyze and provide recommendations and options to drive productivity improvements in SSC. This includes working with data owners to improve on data integrity and reporting as well as other business stakeholders on how to present the data in a meaningful way in order to drive efficiency and continuous improvement.
Provides day to day support and advice in the department for transactional activities.
Timely reconciliations/issues resolution and submission of management/regulatory reporting as and when required.
Work closely with other respective operations team to resolve any exceptions and queries.
Proactively share new ideas and concepts to improve operations process.
To work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
To perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisors/Management from time to time.
To cover the duties of staff members in the department in his/her absence.
To support Bank activities interrupted by an emergency/crisis.
More than 7 years experiences in Banking and Finance. Or more than 5 years of Banking related project experience in IT or Consulting company.
Preferably to have at least intermediate knowledge in one of the Banking Operations products (Trade Finance, Loans, Treasury, Deposit or Remittance).
Preferably to have professional qualifications in Banking or Project Management.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Good initiative and ability to manage own time.
Ability to effectively prioritize workload to meet tight deadlines and work objectives.
