PROTON is seeking a Manager, Group Planning & Reporting (Sustainability) to anchor the company’s ESG reporting framework. You will map the ESG footprint, establish baselines across manufacturing, and build disclosure aligned with Bursa Malaysia SRG 4th Edition, GRI, IFRS S1/S2, and TCFD.
You will work with senior management, DRB-HICOM, business units, auditors and consultants to translate complex data into executive insights, drive ESG integration, emissions reduction, and capability-building
With core task in Sustainability Reporting, the incumbent anchors PROTON'S ESG reporting agenda - starting from the ground up. This includes mapping the company's current ESG footprint, establishing data baselines across manufacturing operations, and building the disclosure framework that will underpin PROTON's inaugural Sustainability Report, in compliance with Bursa Malaysia's Sustainability Reporting Guide (4th Edition), GRI, IFRS S1/S2, and TCFD.
The incumbent works closely with Senior Management across PROTON Group, DRB-HICOM, relevant business units, and external stakeholders including auditors and consultants. The role requires strong analytical and structured thinking, the ability to present complex information at the executive level, and a genuine commitment to building sustainability capability from the ground up.
Lead sustainability reporting & disclosure.
Execute double materiality assessment.
Build ESG data infrastructure & governance.
Drive cross-functional ESG integration.
Drive emissions reduction and operational sustainability.
Build internal sustainability culture and capability.
Support sustainability strategy and target setting.
Monitor regulatory and investor ESG requirements.
Communicate the strategic direction and corporate objectives.
Provide support in development of key corporate reports.
Monitor business performance and drive improvements to track progress against strategic objectives.
Facilitate strategic business meetings and stakeholder engagement.
Bachelor's Degree specialised in: Environmental Science, Engineering, Accounting & Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
Postgraduate qualification or certification in sustainability i.e. GRI, SASB/FSA, ISSB is an advantage.
Total Relevant Experience: 4 to 6 years
Experience Focus: Preferably in corporate strategy, ESG, sustainability reporting, corporate planning, and related fields. Experience in the automotive or manufacturing sector is advantageous. Prior exposure to Big 4 advisory, internal audit, or in-house ESG/sustainability reporting is required.
Management & Partnerships: Managerial-related experience with a strong track record of managing financial information. Experience working in partnership with a range of external and internal stakeholders, managing conflict/sensitive issues to achieve positive outcomes, and delivering strategic priorities within strict timelines.
Regulatory & Framework Knowledge: Working knowledge of Bursa Malaysia's Sustainability Reporting Guide (4th Edition), GRI Standards, TCFD, IFRS S1/S2, and GHG Protocol accounting. Good understanding of overall corporate strategy processes and automotive business dynamics, with the ability to align company strategy with market and regulatory requirements.
Technical & Analytical Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data modelling, financial analysis, and performance reporting (experience with ESG data management tools is an advantage). Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights for senior management and Board-level audiences.
Communication & Execution: Excellent written and verbal communication in English and Bahasa Malaysia. Comfortable engaging with senior leadership, DRB-HICOM stakeholders, various departments, external auditors, and consultants. A self-starter with strong project management instincts, the ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously, and a demonstrated willingness to learn in a nascent function.
