Job summary

Northport (Malaysia) Bhd is seeking an experienced Head of Data Centre Operations to manage the data centre, ensure operational resilience, and lead infrastructure modernization. You will oversee servers, virtualization, storage, backup, and DR, while ensuring cybersecurity and governance requirements are met.

You will coordinate with application, network, OT and project teams, drive budgets, and lead a team with performance management and capability development.

Qualifications

• Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related discipline is required.
• 8+ years in data centre ops, infra mgmt or enterprise IT with 3–5 years in supervision.
• Experience with servers, virtualization, storage, backup, DR environments.
• Experienced in vendor mgmt, budgeting, governance and audit/compliance.
• Experience leading infra upgrades, modernization, and resilience initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Manage data centre operations, ensuring availability, resilience, capacity planning, and lifecycle management.
• Ensure compliance with cybersecurity, governance, regulatory and operational requirements; coordinate with cross-functional teams.
• Develop and implement governance, standards, policies, and procedures; maintain docs and asset inventories.
• Lead vendor management, contracts, and service performance monitoring for infra services.
• Oversee incident management, root cause analysis, escalation, and DR recovery exercises.
• Drive infra enhancements, upgrades, maintenance, patching, and modernization initiatives.
• Prepare budgets, investment papers, and strategic infra initiatives.
• Lead and mentor staff, performance management and supervision.

Job description

• Minimum - Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related discipline.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in data centre operations, infrastructure management, or enterprise IT operations with 3 – 5 years of experience in supervisory / team management roles.
• Strong experience managing servers, virtualization, storage, backup, and disaster recovery environments.
• Strong experience in vendor management, investment planning, and infrastructure budgeting.
• Experience managing infrastructure governance, operational frameworks, and support operations.
• Experience leading infrastructure enhancement, modernization, and operational resilience initiatives.
• Familiarity with cybersecurity, audit, governance, and compliance requirements.
• Experience supporting operationally critical or 24x7 environments.

Added Advantage Factors

• Professional certifications such as VMware, Microsoft, Cisco, ITIL, CDCP, CISSP, or equivalent.
• Exposure to port, logistics, industrial, or operational technology environments.

Salary Information

• Between RM9,500 to RM15,500 depending on candidate qualification, experience and added advantage factors.

Role & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities (including, but not limited to, the following) :

• Manage overall data centre operations, infrastructure availability, and operational resilience for business-critical systems across server, virtualization, storage, backup, disaster recovery, and related infrastructure environments, while ensuring operational stability, capacity planning, performance monitoring, and lifecycle management of data centre infrastructure.
• Ensure infrastructure compliance with cybersecurity, governance, audit, regulatory, and operational requirements. Coordinate with application, network, cybersecurity, OT, and project teams on infrastructure requirements and operational support activities.
• Lead the development and implementation of data centre governance, standards, policies, procedures, and operational frameworks. Maintain infrastructure documentation, architecture records, asset inventories, and operational procedures.
• Lead vendor management, contract coordination, and service performance monitoring for infrastructure-related services.
• Oversee infrastructure incident management, root cause analysis, escalation handling, and operational recovery activities.
• Lead routine failover, disaster recovery (DR), recovery validation, and operational continuity exercises.
• Manage infrastructure enhancement, upgrades, maintenance, patching, and modernization initiatives.
• Prepare and manage technical proposals, investment papers, budgeting inputs, and strategic infrastructure initiatives.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance infrastructure resilience, operational efficiency, and service quality.
• Lead and manage subordinate staff, including performance management, capability development, and operational supervision.
