Qualifications

• Experience in facilities maintenance or hotel engineering preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventative maintenance on hotel mechanical and electrical systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, kitchen equipment).
• Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, identify root causes, implement solutions.
• Carry out repairs and component replacements throughout the property.
• Respond to maintenance requests promptly, with professionalism and courtesy.
• Maintain accurate records of work orders, parts used and labour hours.
• Conduct safety inspections and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Maintain and organise maintenance tools, equipment and parts inventory.
• Collaborate with external contractors for specialised repairs.

About the role

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Maintenance Technician to join the engineering team at Mercure Penang Beach. This is a full‑time position based in Penang, where you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and upkeep of our hotel's facilities and systems. As a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting equipment failures, and carrying out repairs to maintain our property to the highest standards. Your work will directly contribute to creating a comfortable and safe environment for our guests and staff.

Key responsibilities

Perform routine preventative maintenance on all hotel mechanical and electrical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and kitchen equipment

Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and system failures, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions

Conduct repairs and replacements of faulty components, fixtures, and appliances throughout the hotel property

Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests and staff, maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor

Maintain accurate records of all maintenance work completed, including work orders, spare parts used, and labour hours

Conduct regular safety inspections and ensure all work is performed in compliance with health and safety regulations

Maintain and organise maintenance tools, equipment, and spare parts inventory

Collaborate with external contractors and service providers when specialised repairs are required
