Dian Fatt Engineering in Kuala Lumpur seeks a commercially minded Quantity Surveyor to oversee project costs across all stages, with a focus on ACMV and M&E services. You will handle financial planning, tendering, supplier negotiations, variations, and progress claims.

The role requires vigilance to deliver projects within budget and maximize cost efficiency, leveraging your takeoffs, drawing reviews, and contract knowledge to drive value for our clients.

Qualifications

• Strong cost estimation and budgeting abilities.
• Experience with tendering and contract administration.
• Ability to read engineering/architectural drawings and extract quantities.

Responsibilities

• Cost Estimation & Budgeting: Prepare preliminary and detailed cost plans, cost estimates, and budget baselines to ensure projects remain financially viable from design through execution.
• Tender & Contract Management: Lead end-to-end tender exercises—compiling Bills of Quantities (BQ), organizing tender documents, evaluating subcontractor quotations, and drafting contract agreements.
• Project Cost Control: Monitor ongoing project expenditures, perform regular cost variance analyses, and ensure overall spending aligns strictly with approved project budgets.
• Site Inspection & Variation Assessment: Conduct regular site visits to monitor construction progress, verify measurements, and evaluate the financial impact of scope changes and variations.
• Supplier & Contractor Negotiation: Commercial negotiation with suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing, optimize project value, and maintain budget targets.
• Payment Processing & Final Account: Assess monthly progress payment claims, verify interim valuations, and prepare accurate final account reports for project closure.
• Technical Proficiency: Hands-on experience with quantity takeoffs, reading drawings, and drafting precise Bills of Quantities.
• Financial & Commercial Acumen: Strong capability in monitoring expenditures and negotiating value-for-money contract terms.
• Contractual Knowledge: Understanding of standard construction contract administration and variation valuation procedures.
• Analytical Mindset: Detail-oriented in compiling financial reports, reviewing payment claims, and performing cost variance analysis.
