Job summary

Tan Chong Group is seeking a proficient Legal Officer to draft and review documents and contracts in Kuala Lumpur. The incumbent will work closely with internal customers and management and coordinate with external lawyers on various legal matters including litigation, conveyancing, and corporate issues.

The role requires strong drafting, interpersonal, and compliance skills, with at least 1 year of experience. Proficiency in English and Bahasa Malaysia and high confidentiality are essential.

Qualifications

• Requires LLB (Hons) from a reputable university and called to the Malaysian Bar.
• Minimum 1 year of working experience in a related field.
• Knowledge of compliance requirements such as the Personal Data Protection Act and Companies Act.

Responsibilities

• Draft and review documents and contracts.
• Liaise with internal customers and management and maintain good rapport.
• Coordinate with external lawyers on legal matters including litigation, conveyancing, corporate, and IP tasks.
• Identify compliance issues under PDPA, etc.
• Assist in addressing legal issues as they arise.
• Communicate with external parties and internal stakeholders on assigned files.
• Work as a team and support superiors.

Job description

• Drafting and reviewing of documents and contracts
• Working closely with and maintaining good rapport with internal customers and management
• Liaising with external lawyers on all legal matters including but not limited to litigation, conveyancing, corporate, contract, intellectual property related matters.
• Identifying compliance issues for eg. Personal Data Protection Act, etc.
• Generally assisting in attending to legal issues that may arise from time to time.
• Communicate and work with external parties and internal stakeholders on files assigned
• Work together ass a team and support the superiors

Requirements

• Candidates must have at least a LLB (Hons) from a reputable university and called to the Malaysian Bar
• Candidate must have a minimum of 1 year(s) of working experience in the related field
• Knowledge and experience in compliance requirements such as Personal Data Protection Act, Companies Act, etc
• Good interpersonal, communication and drafting skills and willingness to take on new assignments
• High level of integrity and confidentiality
• High computer proficiency and good command in Microsoft Office applications
• Proficient in written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia
