Job summary

ZTE Malaysia is seeking a qualified Legal Counsel to join their Kuala Lumpur team. You will manage corporate governance, regulatory compliance, contract negotiations, and litigation support within the telecommunications sector.

The role requires a CLP and at least 3 years of full-time legal experience with a strong grounding in Malaysian law, plus excellent English; Mandarin is an advantage. This position offers exposure to cross-border matters and collaboration with outside counsel.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Certificate in Legal Practice (CLP).
• Minimum of 3 years of full-time legal experience.
• Solid foundation in Malaysian law and local legal practice.
• Excellent English oral and writing ability; proficiency in Mandarin is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Manage corporate, legal, and regulatory matters including governance, project contracts, and vendor/customer relationships.
• Draft, review, and negotiate legal agreements to ensure alignment with company policy and local laws.
• Provide legal opinions on procurement, contract claims, and dispute resolution.
• Handle company litigation, including pre-trial motions and strategic defense planning.
• Participate in the retention and management of outside counsel.
• Monitor updates on local laws and policies to provide comprehensive reports.
