Job summary

Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS invites applications for a lecturer position to enrich the learning experience in cybersecurity. You will plan and deliver teaching assignments, supervise undergraduate and postgraduate projects, and contribute to research grants and publications.

The role includes mentoring students, advancing academic programmes, and building collaborations with industry and academic partners to sustain high‑quality education.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a Computing-related discipline; Master's or PhD in Cybersecurity or related field preferred.
• Professional certifications in Cybersecurity or related areas are an added advantage.
• Demonstrated experience teaching Cybersecurity or related courses at university level.
• Publication in Q1 and Q2 journals is an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver teaching assignments with monitoring of T&L quality (e.g. Course Outcome Survey, SSRT) and assessment design.
• Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate projects, capstone and internship programs.
• Contribute to securing internal and external research grants endorsed by the Research Institutes.
• Publish articles in Q1/Q2 journals and other indexed publications to benefit the university.
• Network with internal and external parties and professional bodies to enhance education quality.

Job description

Enrich students’ learning experience towards becoming global graduates by planning and executing student learning and development, supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate students, research grants, publications as well as contribution and services to ensure sustainable superior academic programmes.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Plan and execute student learning and development by undertaking teaching assignments with monitoring of T&L quality (e.g. Course Outcome Survey, Student Self Reflection Tools Survey (SSRT), Lecturer’s Reflection), teaching delivery method (e.g. Active Learning (AL), utilisation of ULearn) and assessment design and quality to provide effective educational delivery and achieve superior learning environment.

Supervision

Supervise and provide guidance to (i) undergraduate students by overseeing and advising the final year projects, ETP/ STP/ TTP/ Capstone projects and internship/ research attachment programs as well as to (ii) postgraduate students for on time postgraduate completion to attain higher quality education.

Research Grants

Contribute to research activities by submitting and securing internal and external research grants endorsed by the Research Institutes to attain impactful and meaningful research, innovation, commercialisation and consultancy projects that benefit the industry, society and university.

Publications

Contribute to university’s publication works by publishing articles in Q1/Q2 journals with impact factor and other types of publications like indexed journals, conference proceedings, publications with international co-authorship, book chapters and book manuscripts to attain impactful and meaningful publications that benefit the industry, society and university.

Contributions & Services

Contribute and provide services by networking and collaborating with internal parties (e.g. internal reviewer, taskforce members, student societies, clubs, etc) as well as securing membership in relevant national and international level professional bodies to attain higher quality education that benefit the industry, society and university.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's degree in a Computing-related discipline, with a Master's degree or PhD research in Cybersecurity or a closely related field
• Possession of professional certifications in Cybersecurity or related areas will be an added advantage
• Demonstrated experience in teaching Cybersecurity or related courses at the university level will be an added advantage
• Evidence of existing networks within education and industry fraternity
• Publication in Q1 and Q2 journals is an added advantage
