Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree with at least five years of related industry or professional experience; or a relevant Master’s Degree or PhD.
• Academic or professional expertise in one or more of the areas listed above.
• Relevant teaching experience at tertiary level is preferred.
• Professional film, television, video, media-production or scholarly experience will be an advantage.
• Ability to teach and communicate effectively in English.
• Ability to guide students patiently and work collaboratively within a small academic team.
• Familiarity with current film-production technologies, industry practices or contemporary screen-media research.
• Experience teaching or supporting students who use English as a second language would be an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver lectures, tutorials, workshops and practical production classes in relevant areas of expertise.
• Prepare teaching materials, assessments and course documentation.
• Assess student work and provide constructive academic and creative guidance.
• Supervise individual and group film and screen-media projects.
• Contribute to curriculum development and the continued growth of the programmes.
• Maintain the required academic and administrative records.
• Participate in programme, faculty and university activities where required.
• Support students from diverse educational and language backgrounds.

Lecturer in Film & Screen Media Production

Raffles University is seeking two full-time lecturers to join the academic team for its newly launched Diploma in Screen Media and upcoming Bachelor of Screen Production.

We welcome applicants with academic or professional expertise in film studies, screen media or practical film and video production. Candidates may specialise in particular areas and are not expected to teach all the subjects listed below.

Possible Areas of Specialisation

• Film and screen studies
• Screen theory, genre theory and documentary theory
• Asian cinema, media and culture
• Screenwriting and directing
• Cinematography and lighting
• Video editing and post-production
• Production design and art direction
• Digital and social media content creation
• Production management
• Sound design, visual effects or motion graphics
• Documentary, commercial and short-film production
