Job summary

MKS Instruments is offering a Lean Intern position in Malaysia to partner with OPEX, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and Production teams. You will support continuous improvement initiatives, Kaizen events, and waste reduction while reporting to the Senior Manager, Lean Continuous Improvement.

You will collect and present data, develop standard work, and help optimize material flow. Travel up to 10% may be required; strong English communication and collaboration with diverse teams are

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Internship experience or university project experience in manufacturing, process improvement, or industrial engineering is an advantage.
• Basic knowledge of Lean Manufacturing concepts such as 5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, and Waste Elimination.
• Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
• High proficiency in workflow automation software (Power Automate, SharePoint, Power BI).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills.
• Good verbal and written communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

• Support Lean and Operational Excellence projects to improve productivity, quality, and process efficiency.
• Assist in Kaizen, 6S, value stream mapping, and waste reduction across manufacturing operations.
• Collect, analyze, and present operational data to identify improvement opportunities and track project progress.
• Assist in developing standard work instructions, visual management tools, and process documentation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on time studies, layout improvements, and material flow optimization.
• Assist with Lean training activities, continuous improvement events, and special projects as assigned.
