Job summary

Avanade is seeking an experienced Lead Security Architect to design and implement advanced security and governance across enterprise environments in a Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia-based onsite contract role. The candidate will lead the Defender XDR and Purview implementations, translating complex regulatory and privacy requirements into actionable security designs.

The role requires 7–10 years of experience in cybersecurity architecture, hands-on work with Microsoft Defender for Endpoint and Microsoft

Qualifications

• Legal right to work in Malaysia; visa sponsorship not available.
• Strong experience in cybersecurity architecture and solution architecture.
• Hands-on experience with Defender for Endpoint and Purview.
• Experience creating high-level and detailed designs, architecture diagrams, configuration standards, and implementation guides.
• Proven Defender for Endpoint (MDE) implementation experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead discovery, requirements analysis, architecture, and solution design for Microsoft Defender XDR and Purview.
• Design integrated Defender XDR solutions, including Defender for Endpoint and Purview for DLP/Information Protection.
• Prepare high-level and detailed designs, architecture diagrams, configuration standards, and implementation guides.
• Translate business, cybersecurity, privacy, legal, data protection, and regulatory requirements into implementation-ready Microsoft security and compliance designs.
• Lead architecture workshops, technical design sessions, design reviews, and implementation walkthroughs.
• Provide architectural guidance to engineering and implementation teams throughout deployment and rollout activities.
• Review implementation evidence to ensure configurations align with approved designs and standards.
• Develop architecture principles and policy design standards to support consistent security implementation across the organization.

Requirements

Must-have:

• Applicants must have the legal right to work in Malaysia. Visa sponsorship is not available.
• Strong experience in cybersecurity architecture, Microsoft security consulting, solution architecture, or enterprise security delivery.
• Experience preparing high-level and detailed designs, architecture diagrams, configuration standards, and implementation guides.
• Strong hands-on experience with both Microsoft Defender for Endpoint and Microsoft Purview for DLP/Information Protection.
• Proven architecture and hands-on implementation experience with Microsoft Defender for Endpoint (MDE).

Nice-to-have:

• Experience with Microsoft Defender for Identity, Defender for Office 365, or Defender for Cloud Apps.
• Experience with Microsoft Purview modules such as Insider Risk Management, Communication Compliance, Data Lifecycle Management, Records Management, eDiscovery, or Audit.
• Familiarity with regulatory, privacy, or legal requirements relevant to enterprise security and compliance (e.g. PDPA, GDPR).
• Ability to translate business and security requirements into MDE technical designs and policies.
• Experience designing endpoint onboarding, EDR, Defender Antivirus, and endpoint security policies.
