Job summary

Lumentum Penang is seeking a Principal Manufacturing Engineer to lead manufacturing activities from NPI to high-volume production, partnering with R&D, Quality, Operations, and contract manufacturers. You will own manufacturing processes, drive DFM feedback, and mentor engineers while pursuing cycle-time reductions, cost improvements, and robust process qualification.

Candidates should have 12+ years in mechanical/manufacturing engineering, NPI experience, and strong English communication;

Qualifications

Experience in NPI and transferring to high-volume manufacturing.
Strong SPC/DOE knowledge and data analysis skills.
Familiarity with optoelectronic devices and assembly processes.

Responsibilities

Transfer new products from R&D into CM, ensuring readiness and ramp-up.
Develop/process formulations; define equipment needs and specs.
Compile/test data to determine process/material specifications.
Plan projects involving new concepts, automation, or improved processes.
Provide technical support for products already transferred to MFG.
Maintain manufacturing docs, work instructions, and process specs.
Plan process qualification activities (FAI, CM qualification, manufacturing validation).
Analyze manufacturing data, SPC trends, yield, and capability for improvements.
Lead root cause investigations (8D, 5 Why, DOE) and corrective actions.
Drive cycle time reduction, productivity, automation, and cost reduction.
Influence roadmaps with DFM feedback during early design.
Lead cross-functional projects on new tech and equipment.
Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership.
