Job summary

bp in Kuala Lumpur is seeking an experienced Operational Risk Specialist to help shape risk management across the organisation. You will identify, assess and mitigate risks, develop analytics, and deliver training to build risk awareness.

This hybrid role requires strong data storytelling, collaboration with senior leaders, and a proactive, continuous learning mindset to drive sustainable risk improvements across bp's global operations.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of experience in operational risk.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong data analysis skills with PowerBI and PowerPoint.
• Strategic mindset with practical problem-solving.
• Strong collaboration across organisational boundaries.
• Curious, proactive and committed to continuous learning.
• Flexible to work on shift from 10am-7pm MYT.

Responsibilities

• Shape strategic operational risk insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
• Lead and improve operational risk processes and controls; build operational risk scenarios.
• Custodian of data quality in the operational risk system.
• Translate data analysis into narratives that convey insights and discoveries.
• Create training materials and deliver training on Operational Risk matters.
• Foster risk awareness and behavioural change across the organisation.
• Support development and refinement of risk processes with usability and adoption in mind.
• Collaborate with senior leaders to shape risk change narratives and priorities.
• Contribute to the evolution of the risk governance framework.
• Be part of discussions fostering a culture of risk management excellence.
