Job summary

S&P Industries in Malaysia is seeking an R&D Executive to lead food product development, ensure safety and quality standards, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet business objectives. The role requires strong knowledge of food science, technology, and industry trends, with the ability to drive initiatives with minimal supervision.

You will mentor junior technologists and oversee projects from concept to commercialization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or related field.
• Proven experience in food product development and food technology, preferably in beverage industry.
• Strong knowledge of food chemistry, sensory evaluation, and food processing techniques.
• Experience with food regulations and quality standards (e.g., MOH, Halal, GMP, FDA, USDA, etc).
• Excellent project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Leadership abilities to mentor and guide junior team members.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage food product development projects from concept to commercialization.
• Conduct research and experiments to improve existing products or develop new ones.
• Analyze and interpret data from experiments and trials, and make recommendations based on findings.
• Stay updated with industry trends, regulations, and consumer preferences to guide product development strategies.
• Produce sample products for customers to evaluate and meeting requirements/expectations.
• Coordinate commercial trials together with productions, QA, factory teams to ensure smooth trial runs.
• Optimize processes and formulations to enhance product quality, cost-effectiveness, and production efficiency.
• Prepare product costings based on raw materials and manufacturing costs to ensure profitable products.
• Collaborate with supplier on new product ideas, quality improvements, and ingredients sourcing.
• Act as a technical advisor and mentor junior food technologists and team members.
• Independently managing projects and report status to R&D Manager, undertake assigned tasks to support R&D department’s objectives
