Equinix is a world-leading digital infrastructure company seeking a Senior Critical Facilities Engineer (Mechanical) to ensure the reliability, availability, and safe operation of data center cooling and mechanical systems. The role requires technical leadership, incident response, and continuous improvement within a data center environment.

The engineer will monitor BMS alarms, perform preventive and corrective maintenance, and collaborate with vendors on complex projects and system

Qualifications

• Proven experience supporting mechanical and cooling systems in mission-critical environments.
• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on mission-critical cooling and mechanical infrastructure.
• Operates, maintains, and supports cooling systems (chillers, cooling towers, CRAH/CRAC units, pumps, valves, heat exchangers).
• Monitors the Building Monitoring System (BMS) and resolves alarms related to cooling and environmental systems.
• Leads advanced repairs, installations, and inspections across mechanical systems.
• Supports energy efficiency and thermal optimisation initiatives.
• Coordinates with vendors for maintenance and documentation.
• Responds to on-site incidents involving cooling failures and environmental excursions.
• Leads or participates in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for mechanical incidents.
