Job summary

You will maintain calibration and stock records, organize the stockroom, and ensure safe handling of chemicals and waste while adhering to ISO 17025 standards.

Job description

This role involves undertaking all soil testing activities within a laboratory environment, including sample intake, logging, preparation, testing, and reporting procedures. You will ensure all laboratory practices meet relevant regulatory and industry standards, work within the laboratory's scope of accreditation and standard operating procedures, and maintain accurate records of scientific data and work undertaken.

Key responsibilities

Undertake all soil testing activities and participate in sample intake, logging, preparation, testing, and reporting procedures

Ensure all laboratory practices meet relevant regulatory and industry standards

Keep accurate and legible records of scientific data and work undertaken

Maintain daily calibration records, equipment maintenance records, reference standard records, stock records and chemical supply records

Organise the laboratory's stockroom to ensure samples are stored in a logistical order and ensure foreign soil is handled appropriately

Prepare chemicals and solutions for use in the laboratory

Maintain a clean work environment

Strictly adhere to quality assurance protocols to ISO 17025 standard to ensure accuracy and reliability of test results

Follow strictly laboratory safety procedures, including proper handling of chemicals and waste

Assist in the calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of all laboratory equipment

About you

Knowledge of Microsoft Office, competent in Excel/Word in particular (compulsory)

Practical and methodical approach to work
