Job summary

Hannover Re Malaysia is seeking an experienced Underwriter to join the P&C team. The role spans country-level strategy development and enterprise-wide execution to drive value in line with the Branch’s business strategy.

You will underwrite Treaty business, conduct analyses of submissions, negotiate terms, and build client and broker relationships to support portfolio growth. Strong communication in Korean and English is required, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree in a relevant field (insurance, risk management, finance, actuarial)
• Minimum 5 years in P&C/non-life, preferably treaty underwriting
• Good knowledge of Korea insurance/reinsurance market
• Fluent in Korean and English
• Strong underwriting and portfolio building skills
• Ability to interpret data, loss trends, and models for decisions

Responsibilities

• Underwrite and maintain Treaty business within delegated authority
• Analyze treaty submissions and negotiate terms and wording
• Develop and maintain relationships with clients and brokers
• Communicate with internal teams and manage stakeholder relations
• Review portfolio performance and assist in reporting to management
• Maintain documentation and administration in underwriting systems
