Job summary

Hannover Re Malaysia is seeking an experienced Underwriter to join our P&C team. This role will develop and execute country-level strategies, underwrite Treaty business within delegated authority, and align with branch and group objectives.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in insurance, Engineering, Risk Management, Finance, Actuarial Science, or a related field.
A minimum of 5 years' of relevant experience in Property & Casualty (P&C)/ Non-Life insurance/reinsurance sector, preferably with exposure to treaty underwriting.
Good knowledge and understanding of the Korea insurance/reinsurance market
Familiarity with regional market dynamics, client needs, and regulatory environments
Ability to communicate in Korean and English fluently to communicate and serve Korean speaking customers.

Responsibilities

Underwrite and maintain Treaty business within the delegated authority, in accordance with the underwriting principles, procedures, relevant guidelines and align with group and local strategy.
Conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses of treaty submissions, negotiate treaty structures, terms and wordings, and handle inquiries from clients and brokers in line with underwriting guidelines and branch business strategy.
Develop and maintain business relationships with clients and brokers to support sustainable portfolio growth and long term value creation.
Effectively communicate with the immediate team as well as the wider P&C business units. Manage business partner relationships, stakeholder engagements and apply effective negotiation skills.
