Job summary

The 1985 Coffee is seeking an experienced Cook / Kitchen Crew to join our small, friendly kitchen team in Penampang, Sabah. This is not an entry-level position; you will handle daily food preparation and support catering and events while maintaining quality and consistency.

You will work with the kitchen and service team, follow standard recipes and hygiene procedures, and stay calm under pressure during busy periods such as weekends and events. Enthusiasm to learn and improve is essential.

Key responsibilities

Daily food preparation and cooking

Preparing food for events and catering functions

Maintaining food quality, portion and consistency

Keeping the kitchen clean, organised and ready for service

Managing multiple orders calmly during busy periods

Working closely with the rest of the kitchen and service team

Following recipes, kitchen procedures and food hygiene standards

About you

Already has hands‑on kitchen experience

Comfortable handling daily food preparation and service with minimal supervision

Can work efficiently, stay calm under pressure and communicate well with the team

Understands how a working kitchen operates and can confidently carry out responsibilities

Humble, dependable, calm and willing to learn

Can accept feedback, learn new dishes and techniques, and continue improving skills
