Job summary

Sprint Gate Engineering in Malaysia seeks a Junior Project Engineer to assist the project team in planning, coordination, execution and completion of engineering and construction projects. You will support site coordination, technical documentation, progress monitoring, and testing and commissioning activities.

Working under guidance of senior engineers, you will engage with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers to develop your technical and project execution capabilities.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor’s in Mechanical, Electrical, Building Services or related engineering.
• Fresh graduates or up to 2 years of engineering/construction experience.
• Exposure to semiconductor, cleanroom, manufacturing, or high-tech facilities is a plus.
• Basic ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Proficiency with MS Office and AutoCAD or equivalent drawing software.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Project Manager / Senior Project Engineer in day-to-day project execution and coordination.
• Monitor site installation and progress against drawings, specs, schedules and programmes.
• Coordinate with engineering, procurement, construction and other project team members to support timely execution.
• Assist in coordinating subcontractors, suppliers and site personnel to plan and execute activities.
• Report progress, constraints, delays and issues to project leadership promptly.
• Review shop drawings, method statements, material submissions, and testing documentation.
• Prepare and submit installation checklists, inspection & testing docs, and commissioning check sheets.
• Conduct routine site inspections to monitor installation quality and compliance.
• Ensure works align with approved drawings, specs, and procedures.
• Support project quality requirements and applicable standards.

Job description

To support the Project Manager and project team in the planning, coordination, execution and completion of engineering and construction projects. The Junior Project Engineer is responsible for assisting with site coordination, technical documentation, progress monitoring, quality and safety compliance, testing and commissioning activities, and coordination with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers. The role is intended to develop the employee's technical and project execution capabilities through practical involvement in projects under the guidance of senior project personnel.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Project Manager / Senior Project Engineer in the day-to-day execution and coordination of assigned projects.
• Monitor site installation and construction progress against approved drawings, specifications, project schedules and work programmes.
• Coordinate with internal engineering, procurement, construction and other project team members to support timely project execution.
• Assist in coordinating subcontractors, suppliers and site personnel to ensure work activities are properly planned and executed.
• Report project progress, site constraints, delays and other issues to the Project Manager / Senior Project Engineer in a timely manner.
• Review and understand contract drawings, specifications, approved shop drawings and relevant technical requirements.
• Assist in the preparation, coordination and submission of shop drawings, method statements, material and equipment submissions, technical submissions, installation checklists, inspection and testing documentation, and testing and commissioning check sheets.
• Conduct routine site inspections and monitor the progress and quality of installation works.
• Ensure works are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements and applicable project requirements.
• Support compliance with project quality requirements, approved procedures and applicable standards.

About you

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or other relevant Engineering discipline.
• Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply; or up to 2 years of relevant working experience in engineering, construction, M&E or project environments.
• Exposure to semiconductor, cleanroom, industrial, manufacturing or high-technology facility projects would be an added advantage.
• Basic understanding of engineering drawings, specifications and construction practices.
• Basic knowledge of M&E / ACMV systems relevant to assigned projects.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering and shop drawings.
• Good problem-solving and analytical ability.
• Good planning and organisational skills.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and AutoCAD or other relevant engineering/drawing software.
