Job summary

CLJ Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. is seeking a Junior Editor to ensure accuracy and quality of judgments, articles, and manuscripts. You will edit judgments, write concise summaries, and extract key holdings while delivering tasks on time.

The role requires a Law degree and 1–2 years in the legal field, with strong editing, grammar, and English/Bahasa Malaysia communication skills. Working closely with editors, you will contribute to quality journals and related materials.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Law is required.
  • At least 1–2 years working experience in legal field; publishing or legal research background advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Proofreading – Apply in-house styles for accuracy and consistency.
  • Prepare headnotes for selected cases and translate headnotes when necessary.
  • Liaise with Typesetting on layout of journals and accuracy of content.
  • Research on citation, legislation, and legal quotations to ensure precision.
  • Final proofreading of cases before releasing to printer for printing.
  • Close journals before printing run.
  • Monitor quality of headnotes written by external headnoters.
  • Edit headnotes written by internal & external headnoters.
  • Liaise with Judges and Court Registrars to clarify issues on judgments or cases as needed.
  • Approve proof copy from printer before full run.
  • Assist Senior Editors in publication of journals and other collaterals.
  • Coordinate with other departments on business activity needs.
