Job summary

Sunway Velocity Hotel Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Kitchen Department Head to oversee daily kitchen operations for the hotel’s outlets and banquets.

You will lead food preparation, manage staff, coordinate menus, purchasing, scheduling and plating for catering events while maintaining hygiene standards and staying within budget.

The role requires culinary training, 2–3 years hotel experience, strong leadership and effective communication.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2–3 years in a hotel environment with hands-on experience in a similar position.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the Kitchen Department and daily kitchen operations for outlets and banquet prep.
• Lead outlet and banquet food prep, coordinate menus, purchasing, scheduling, and plating for catering events.
• Supervise cooks and staff to ensure high quality presentation and product consistency.
• Maintain hygiene and comply with Food & Beverage policies and standards.
• Aim to improve guest and employee satisfaction while managing the operating budget.

• Responsible for Kitchen Department and overseeing overall success of the daily kitchen operations
• To lead the outlet and banquet food preparation, handling staff, assisting in coordination of menus, purchasing, scheduling, food preparation and plating for catering events.
• Supervises and coordinates activities of cooks and workers engaged in food preparation
• Responsible for delivering excellent, consistent, high quality product with an appetizing presentation.
• Works to continually improve guest and employee satisfaction while maintaining the operating budget
• Excellent in hygiene, food standards and ensures compliance with all Food & Beverage policies, standards and procedures.

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 - 3 years working experience preferably from hotel environment with hands‑on experience in similar position.
• Culinary school graduates
• Capable of delegating multiple tasks
• Strong leadership, organizational and administrative skills
• Able to communicate effectively
