Job summary

Appvalley Technology Sdn Bhd in Kuala Lumpur seeks a Software Engineer to address the full software development lifecycle, from analysis to design, testing and implementation. You will work on banking, finance, e-commerce projects and maintain large codebases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering or related field.
• At least 4 years of development experience.
• Proficient in Java programming.
• Hands-on experience with Java EE frameworks such as Springboot, Spring, Struts 2, Hibernate, JSP, Log4j, JSON, AXIOM.
• Knowledge of Web Service: XML, JAVA, SOAP API, REST.
• Experience with WebSphere and Tomcat Application Server.
• Experience with PL/SQL, DB2, Oracle and MSSQL databases.
• Strong English communication, analytical and troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

• Address the full software development lifecycle from analysis to design, test and development.
• Troubleshoot software issues and debug a large codebase.
• Improve system quality by identifying issues and developing SOPs.
• Enhance applications by identifying improvement opportunities and implementing systems.
• Maintain and improve existing codebases and peer review changes.
• Provide ongoing maintenance, support and enhancements in existing systems.
• Analyze data to coordinate installation or modification of systems.
• Perform analyses on software functionality and suggest improvements.
• Provide front-end support to business users.
• Manage code migration across environments to ensure synchronized functionality.
• Identify root causes of errors and escalate to Technical Lead.
• Communicate effectively and collaborate with the team.

Job description

Software Engineer needs to address the entire software development lifecycle - to analyze the needs, and then design, test and develop software in order to meet business needs. Software Engineer also responsible for managing the resolution of application and system issues that arise across the systems.

Key Duties/Responsibilities

Strong analytical and thinking skills with an ability to visualize processes and outcomes.

Ability in troubleshooting software issues and debugging a large codebase.

Improving system quality by identifying issues and common patterns, and developing standard operating procedures

Enhancing applications by identifying opportunities for improvement, making recommendations and designing and implementing systems

Maintaining and improving existing codebases and peer review code changes.

Provide ongoing maintenance, support and enhancements in existing systems and platforms.

Analyzing data to effectively coordinate the installation of new systems or the modification of existing systems.

Performing analyses on software application functionality and suggesting improvements.

Providing front end support to business users.

Managing code migration across environments to ensure continued and synchronized functionality.

Establishing the root causes of application errors, and escalating serious concerns to the Technical Lead

Good all-round communication skills and ability to work collaboratively

Jobholder Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in in computer science, software engineering, or another related field.

Must have at least 4 years of development experience.

Ability to develop in any JAVA programming languages.

Hands on experiences in various Java EE frameworks such as Springboot, Spring, Struts 2, Hibernate, JSP, Log4j, JSON, AXIOM

Knowledge in Web Service: XML, JAVA, SOAP API, REST.

Experience in WebSphere and Tomcat Application Server.

Experience in PL/SQL, DB2, Oracle and MSSQL database.

Good verbal and written communication in English, technical, analytical, troubleshooting and consultative skills

Knowledge in document management and workflow system will be an advantage.

Experience in Insurance Industry will be an advantage
