Job summary

Scicom MSC Berhad in Malaysia seeks a proficient Japanese Interpreter to provide accurate real-time interpretation between Japanese and English during technical and business meetings, supporting engineers when engaging with Japanese clients.

The role requires converting meeting materials and documents, maintaining confidentiality, and ensuring clear communication across stakeholders. Part-time position until 31 January 2027, with a monthly salary of RM4500–RM5000.

Qualifications

Job Summary

We are seeking a proficient Japanese Interpreter to provide accurate and real-time interpretation between Japanese and English during technical and business meetings. The successful candidate will support engineers when engaging with Japanese clients, ensuring clear communication and mutual understanding of technical discussions, project requirements, and business matters.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide consecutive or simultaneous interpretation between Japanese and English during meetings, workshops, and discussions.
• Support engineers in communicating technical concepts, project updates, and solutions to Japanese clients.
• Facilitate smooth communication between internal teams and Japanese-speaking stakeholders.
• Translate meeting materials, emails, presentations, and other business documents when required.
• Ensure accurate interpretation while maintaining the intended meaning, tone, and context.
• Assist in preparing meeting summaries and action items.
• Maintain confidentiality of client and company information.

Requirements

• Native or near-native proficiency in Japanese and professional fluency in English.
• Proven experience as a Japanese-English Interpreter or Translator.
• Ability to understand and accurately interpret technical and engineering terminology.
• Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Professional, neutral, and culturally sensitive communication style.
• Ability to work effectively in client-facing environments.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting engineering, telecommunications, IT, manufacturing, or technical projects.
• JLPT N1 or N2 certification.
• Prior experience interpreting in business meetings, project discussions, or customer engagements.
