Job summary

Monks is seeking a System Administrator to maintain, configure, and operate computer systems and cloud platforms. You will join the SysOps IT team to strengthen security, policy, and efficiency while automating IT tasks.

The role is hybrid with occasional attendance at the Kuala Lumpur office, and you will support tools like Google Workspace, Slack Enterprise Grid, Microsoft 365/Azure, and Intune, while ensuring ISO 27001 compliance and audit readiness.

Qualifications

• Typically 3–5+ years in systems administration or a similar operational role.
• Experience running audits/reports and presenting findings.
• Familiarity with at least one scripting language.
• Interest in automating IT tasks and supporting ISO 27001 compliance.

Responsibilities

• Regional Support: Act as the primary escalation path during local office hours for tools managed by the global team (Slack, Google Workspace, Jamf, Intune).
• Tier 2/3 Resolution: Resolve complex technical issues to ensure smooth local operations before global admins are online.
• Audit readiness: Help prepare IT environment for ISO 27001 audits with strict access controls and change management records.

As a System Administrator within .Monks, you will be responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and ongoing operation of computer systems and cloud platforms. Working as part of the SysOps IT team, your observations and input will help drive the evolution of tech administration within our company as we look to establish stronger policies, more security, better organization, and enhanced efficiency. As the IT, and especially AI, needs of the company continue to grow, you will have the opportunity to learn new technologies and propose projects. Automating IT tasks will be a focus.

This role is well-suited for those who are self-sufficient, dependable, looking for new challenges, and are interested in expanding their skillset.

This is a hybrid role, with infrequent, office attendance at our Kuala Lumpur office.

Responsibilities will include:

• Regional Support: Act as the primary escalation path during local office hours for tools managed by the global team (including Slack, Google Workspace, Jamf, and Intune).
• Tier 2/3 Resolution: Resolve complex technical issues that standard IT support cannot handle, ensuring seamless operation for the local team before the global admins come online.

ISO 27001 Compliance & Audit

• Audit Readiness: Help prepare the IT environment for ISO 27001 audits by maintaining strict access controls and change management records.
• Evidence Collection: Be an active participant in audit interviews, providing "point-in-time" evidence such as access logs, termination of access reports, and proof of system patching.

Background Sought

Technical Background Sought:

Cloud-Based Business Platform Administration: Google Workspace, Slack Enterprise Grid, Microsoft365/Azure and Atlassian Org Administration.

Networking Hardware: Fortinet, Ubiquiti.

Identity & Endpoint Management: OneLogin, Jamf, Intune, and A1.

Bonus points for experience with automation or APIs.

Familiarity with at least one scripting language.

General Requirements:
