Job summary

BHP is seeking a motivated accounting intern to support the Accounting Processing Team in Malaysia. You will assist with accounting transactions, reconciliations, data validation, reporting, and process improvements within a multinational environment.

This hands-on internship offers exposure to a range of finance processes while adhering to our safety and compliance standards. A related degree is preferred.

• Pursuing or holding a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
• Basic understanding of accounting principles.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate commitment to health, safety, and sustainable development in all activities.
• Assist in processing accounting transactions across finance processes for accuracy and policy compliance.
• Support in period end close activities and required documentation.
• Assist in GL and subledger reconciliation analysis.
• Help compile documentation for internal and external audits as needed.
• Investigate and resolve accounting and transactional queries.
• Provide team support to ensure timely completion of tasks.
• Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• Prepare reports, analyses, and other ad hoc accounting tasks.

About the Opportunity:

We are seeking a motivated and detail oriented intern to support the Accounting Processing Team. The intern will assist with accounting transactions, reconciliations, data validation, reporting, compliance activities, and process improvements. This role offers hands on experience across a range of accounting and finance processes within a multinational business environment.

Key Accountabilities:

• Demonstrate a strong commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility, and sustainable development in all work activities.
• Assist in the preparation and processing of accounting transactions across various finance processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and procedures.
• Support Specialists and Team Leads in preparing required documentation and completing period end close activities.
• Assist in performing analysis and reconciliation of relevant general ledger and subledger accounts.
• Support the compilation of documentation for internal and external audits as required.
• Assist with the investigation and resolution of accounting and transactional queries.
• Provide support to team members and collaborate effectively to ensure timely completion of tasks.
• Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy within the team.
• Assist in preparing reports, analysis, and other ad hoc accounting tasks as required.
