Job summary

BHP in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a finance professional to support the period-end close, maintain ledgers, and ensure timely monthly reporting. You will interact with regional teams and drive accurate financial statements.

Responsibilities include GL reconciliations, SOX/compliance support, and audits. A Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance and relevant professional qualifications are preferred, with SAP and strong Excel skills essential.

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is required.
  • Professional qualification (CPA/ACCA/CIMA/CA) is an advantage.
  • Experience in a large corporate or shared service is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

About the Role

You will work collaboratively with your team and key stakeholders to provide support, guidance and produce results, including (but not limited to) the following deliverables:

Key Accountabilities
  • Ensure conformance with the BHP Charter, the BHP Our Requirements, Code of Conduct and relevant statutory obligations.
  • Demonstrate an overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development.
  • Execute and coordinate the period end close process, journal postings, and ensure ledgers closed on time for monthly group reporting.
  • Prepare general ledger reconciliations and data verification to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial results reported; follow up outstanding reconciling items with clear resolution on a timely basis.
  • Preparation of half yearly external briefing papers, annual stewardship review, and other reporting submissions to Group Reporting.
  • Support and participate to drive standardisation, improvement initiatives, collaboration and continue to embed BOS Practices in the day-to-day activities.
  • Participate in SOX compliance by ensuring processes and internal controls in place are performed effectively to address the associated risks.
  • Participate in internal and external audit requirements.
About You

To be successful in securing this role, ideally you will have the following skills and experience.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree qualification in Accounting or Finance
  • Professional qualification (CPA/ACCA/CIMA/CA), either completed or currently pursuing will be added advantage
Experience and Technical Competencies
  • Significant experience working with a large corporate or shared service function
  • Strong analytical skill focus on accuracy, validation and problem solving
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel including Macro
  • Demonstrated strong business acumen, risk management skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage deadlines effectively
  • Demonstrated experience working in SAP system
