Job summary

Setel is seeking an intern to support its tax and finance functions in Kuala Lumpur. The role focuses on withholding tax compliance, indirect tax returns, and assisting management accounting to present financial information to senior management.

You will also help with data migration, ERP usage, and e-Invoicing projects, while maintaining filing systems. The ideal candidate is pursuing a Bachelor’s in Tax/Finance/Accountancy, available for 4–6 months, proficient in MS Word/Excel and Google

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Tax/Finance/Accountancy or equivalent.
• 4–6 month internship period.

Responsibilities

Job description

Introduced in July 2018, Setel is a mobile platform that aims to delight customers by innovating for better, inclusive mobility. Setel serves customers across Malaysia by powering one app as the constant companion to ease motorists’ journey across fueling, parking, EV charging, motor insurance, road tax, auto assistance, general purchases, and more across an ecosystem of PETRONAS petrol stations, retail partners, and online merchants.

In this role you will have the opportunity to mainly experience, but not limited to the following tax scope:

• Ensure and monitor withholding tax compliance by liaising with Group Tax and initiate payment requests as necessary.
• Support with indirect tax return filing.
• Support with management accounting scope, whereby the tasks will be directly contributing to presentation of Financial information to Setel’s upper management.
• Participate in on-going initiatives to improve streamline processes, enhance efficiency, and optimize financial outcomes.
• Assist with data migration, collection and analysis for tax compliance purposes.
• Explore and learn by using an accounting software ERP system.
• Involves with project execution in relation with the Government's recently announced e-Invoicing programme.
• Maintain systematic workflows and filing systems.
• Assist with filing, data entry, recording and maintaining accurate financial records.
• Provide strong support to the Accounting Team as they perform their duties.

You're a great fit if you have/are:

• Completed or undergoing bachelor’s degree in Tax/Finance/Accountancy or equivalent. Alternatively, undergoing finance related professional studies (i.e. MICPA, CPA, ACCA, ICAEW, etc.).
• Able to serve an internship period of 4 to 6 months.
• Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, Google Suite
• Analytical skills and have the ability to work under pressure
• Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
• An organized and flexible approach and ability to work independently.
• A proactive mindset and the drive to effect change and improvement.
• The ability to express and articulate ideas with an audience of different backgrounds.
