Job summary

ELSA in Johor is seeking an experienced Instrument Engineer to provide technical support for instrumentation and control systems across projects and operations in the oil & gas sector.

You will contribute to the Instrumentation Engineering Strategy, support design, documentation, loop checks, commissioning and start-up, and troubleshoot field instruments including PLC, DCS, SIS and FGS to uphold safety and asset integrity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience.
• Knowledge of Instrumentation & Control systems and field instruments.
• Hands-on experience with PLC, DCS, SIS and FGS.
• Engineering design, documentation, loop checking, commissioning, troubleshooting.
• Familiar with relevant international standards, safety requirements and regulatory standards.
• Experience in petrochemical/O&G facilities preferred.
• Plant maintenance/turnaround experience is a plus.
• Exposure to EPC, brownfield projects, commissioning and start-up is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical engineering support for instrumentation and control systems across projects and operations.
• Input and execute Instrument Engineering Strategy, Business Plan, and Policy.
• Support engineering design, documentation, and ensure standards compliance.
• Perform loop checking, function testing, commissioning and start-up activities.
• Troubleshoot instrumentation and control system issues; conduct root cause analysis and recommend improvements.
• Support field instruments (pressure, temperature, flow, level transmitters).
• Support PLC, DCS, SIS, and FGS, plus machinery control and measurement systems.
• Ensure activities meet safety, regulatory, and international codes; maintain documentation.
• Contribute to reliability, asset integrity, and continuous improvement initiatives.
