Job summary

A local interior design firm is seeking an Industrial Designer (Drafter) in Negeri Sembilan. You will be part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, responsible for creating accurate technical drawings and ensuring compliance with regulations. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in engineering or architecture, with minimum 5 years of experience and familiarity with SolidWorks. A background in the furniture industry is a plus.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years working experience as a Drafter or similar role.
• Experience in furniture industry will be added advantage.
• Sound knowledge of the discipline they draft for.

Overview

Responsibilities

• Stay up to date with new drafting software and advancements.
• Demonstrate impeccable attention to detail and have sound knowledge of the discipline they draft for.
• The Drafter guides the software in order to create accurate depictions of the products to be manufactured or the building to be constructed.
• Following specifications and calculations to create various technical drawings.
• Calculate dimensions, weight limitations and requirements in materials.
• Describe production methods step-by-step (including equipment and software types to be used).
• Create detailed technical drawings with Computer-aided Design (CAD) software.
• Communicating with architects, suppliers, and engineers, and incorporating knowledge gained into drawings.
• Preparing, reviewing and redrafting alongside the engineering team.
• Ensuring final designs are compliant with regulations, client’s requirements and quality standards and budget.
• Identifying and communicating potential design problems to the rest of the team.
• Ensuring that deadlines are met, and drawings are prepared efficiently.

Qualifications

• Familiar with 3D modelling tools SolidWorks.
• Minimum 5 years working experience as a Drafter or similar role.
• Experience in furniture industry will be added advantage.
• Based in Bandar Sri Sendayan, Negeri Sembilan.
