Job summary

Scimmtrol Semiconductor Technology (M) Sdn Bhd is seeking an experienced Indirect Material Buyer to join our Simpang Ampat, Penang operations. This full-time role focuses on procuring indirect materials and services that support our semiconductor manufacturing processes.

You will source materials, negotiate contracts, manage supplier performance, and coordinate with operations to ensure timely delivery and cost efficiency. Strong ERP skills and 3–5 years of relevant experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, or related field.
• 3–5 years of relevant indirect material purchasing experience in manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Identify and source indirect materials and services for semiconductor manufacturing.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Indirect Material Buyer to join Scimmtrol Semiconductor Technology (M) Sdn Bhd. This is a full-time position based in Simpang Ampat, Penang. As an Indirect Material Buyer, you will play a crucial role in our procurement operations, managing the acquisition of indirect materials and services that support our semiconductor manufacturing operations. This position is essential to ensuring our production efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and supply chain reliability, directly contributing to the company's operational success and profitability.

What you'll be doing

Identifying and sourcing indirect materials and services required for semiconductor manufacturing operations

Evaluating supplier quotations and negotiating contracts to achieve optimal pricing and terms whilst maintaining quality standards

Managing supplier relationships and performance metrics, ensuring consistent delivery and service excellence

Preparing purchase orders and managing the procurement process from requisition through to delivery and invoice reconciliation

Monitoring inventory levels of indirect materials and coordinating with operations teams to forecast demand

Conducting market research to identify new suppliers and cost-saving opportunities

Maintaining accurate records of purchases, supplier agreements, and procurement data

Collaborating with internal stakeholders to understand material requirements and resolve supply chain issues

Ensuring compliance with company procurement policies and relevant regulations

Analysing spending patterns and preparing reports to support cost reduction initiatives

What we're looking for

Proven experience in indirect material procurement or purchasing within a manufacturing environment, preferably in the semiconductor or electronics sector

Strong knowledge of purchasing and procurement practices, supplier management, and inventory control

Demonstrated ability to negotiate effectively with suppliers to achieve cost savings without compromising quality

Proficiency in using procurement systems and enterprise resource planning (ERP) software

Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously

Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities to address supply chain challenges

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in English

Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in documentation and record-keeping

Diploma or degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, or a related field

Preferably 3-5 years of relevant experience in indirect material purchasing or procurement roles

Familiarity with semiconductor manufacturing processes and indirect material categories would be advantageous
