Job summary

Cape Group in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, is looking for a Procurement Specialist to manage end-to-end procurement activities and supplier negotiations. The ideal candidate will have 5–8 years of experience in semiconductor or electronics sectors, a Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, and strong analytical skills. Fluency in Mandarin is preferred. Responsibilities include sourcing new suppliers, managing purchase orders, and collaborating with various teams to ensure material availability.

Qualifications

Job description

• Manage end-to-end procurement activities for direct and/or indirect materials.
• Source and qualify new suppliers to ensure competitive pricing, quality, and delivery performance.
• Lead price negotiations, contract discussions, and commercial terms with suppliers.
• Monitor supplier performance (OTD, quality, cost) and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure material availability to support production schedules and prevent shortages.
• Collaborate closely with Planning, Engineering, QA, Warehouse, and Production teams.
• Analyze market trends, cost drivers, and supply risks within the semiconductor industry.
• Implement cost reduction initiatives (VA/VE, alternativesourcing, localization).
• Manage purchase orders, supplier agreements, and documentation in ERP systems.
• Handle supplier escalations and resolve supply chain issues promptly.
• Support new product introduction (NPI) sourcing activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 5–8 years of procurement experience in semiconductor, electronics, or IDM environment.
• Strong negotiation and commercial skills.
• Good understanding of semiconductor components, raw materials, and supply chain dynamics.
• Experience with ERP systems (SAP/Oracle preferred).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Fluency in Mandarin is preferred for dealing with Mandarin-speaking clients.
• Experience in purchasing/sourcing in the EMS (Electronic Manufacturing Services) industry is an advantage.
• Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
