Job summary

Atlas Cloud Services in Malaysia is seeking a detail-driven Import/Export Compliance Specialist to manage RMCD, MITI and other local authority requirements for shipments. You will review declarations, coordinate with freight forwarders and customs agents, and ensure correct HS classification, valuation and SST treatment.

You will track policy changes, manage permit applications, and keep audit-ready records while supporting warehouse inbound/outbound activities.

Qualifications

• Degree in International Trade, Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field.
• 3–5 years import/export or customs compliance experience in Malaysia, ideally with electronics or IT hardware.
• Working knowledge of Customs Act 1967, Sales Tax Act 2018 and Strategic Trade Act 2010.
• Hands-on experience with K1/K2 declarations, HS classification and the customs system.
• Good written and spoken Chinese, English and Bahasa Malaysia.

Job description

• Make sure every import and export complies with Royal Malaysian Customs Department (RMCD), MITI and other local authority requirements
• Review customs declarations (K1/K2) & coordinate with freight forwarders and customs agents; check HS classification, valuation and SST treatment
• Apply for and manage strategic trade permits and other controlled item permits where required
• Track Malaysian and relevant foreign (including US export control) policy changes, and brief the team on what they mean for our shipments
• Prepare and manage tax and duty exemption applications on the MDEC portal, and keep approvals, quotas and validity dates up to date
• Track remaining Bank Guarantee (BG) value, forecast usage against upcoming shipments, and trigger new BG applications before limits are reached
• Track shipment release status from arrival to customs clearance, and keep the warehouse and asset teams informed of inbound activity
• Keep complete, audit-ready compliance records for every shipment, and support internal and external audits
• Support the warehouse management – Inbound/outbound management as and when require

What you bring

• Degree in International Trade, Logistics, Supply Chain, Business or a related field
• 3–5 years of import/export or customs compliance experience in Malaysia, ideally with electronics, semiconductors, IT hardware or data center equipment
• Working knowledge of the Customs Act 1967, Sales Tax Act 2018 and Strategic Trade Act 2010
• Hands-on experience with K1/K2 declarations, HS classification and the customs system
• Familiarity with US export controls (EAR, ECCN classification) is a strong advantage
• Experience with MDEC, MIDA or other tax incentive and exemption applications is an advantage
• Experiences in warehouse management is preferred
• Organized, detail-driven and comfortable dealing directly with authorities, forwarders and finance teams
• Good written and spoken Chinese, English and Bahasa Malaysia
