Job summary

Talent Recruit is seeking a Lead Analyst - Trade Compliance to oversee international freight forwarding operations and ensure strict regulatory adherence across shipments. The role entails coordinating documentation, liaising with brokers, and ensuring accurate customs entries for imports and exports.

Strong knowledge of Malaysian customs, Incoterms 2020, and ASEAN rules is essential. Ideal candidates bring at least 5 years of experience in trade compliance, with the ability to work with

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of experience in international compliance and trade.
• Bachelor's degree in Logistics or Trade Compliance.
• Strong knowledge of freight forwarding and customs brokerage operations.
• Understanding of Malaysian Customs regulations, import/export procedures, and FCZ.
• Expertise in Incoterms 2020 and ASEAN rules of origin for FTAs.
• Working knowledge of US EAR or EU dual-use regulations.
• Ability to liaise effectively with MITI, MIDA, SIRIM, and Customs.
• Knowledge of Dangerous Goods per IATA/IMDG.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to make fast, informed decisions.
• Proficient in reading shipping documents and contracts.

Responsibilities

• Manage international freight forwarding companies and customs brokers for various customers.
• Coordinate all necessary and required documentation for shipment movements.
• Ensure prompt and compliant customs entry of international cargo.
• Resolve shipments with complex customs issues via brokers and carriers.
• Identify updates and gaps in shipping guides to ensure smooth exports/imports.
• Conduct emerging markets research to develop SOPs for importation.
• Perform loss analysis and recommend improvements to minimize compliance mistakes.
• Champion Kaizen and lean deployment across the global network.
• Recognize discrepancies and apply RCCA-based resolution tactics.

Job Description

• Ensure prompt and effective customs entry of international cargo while adhering to global regulations.
• Resolve shipments with complex customs issues by liaising with brokers and carriers.
• Identify updates and gaps in international shipping guides to ensure all exports and imports flow successfully through customs.
• Carry out emerging markets research to develop standard operating procedures for successful importation.
• Perform loss analysis and recommend improvements to minimize compliance-related exceptions.

• Recognize discrepancies and resolution tactics utilizing RCCA parameters.

Job Requirements

• At least 5 years of relevant experience in international compliance and trade is required.
• A Bachelors degree or equivalent in Logistics or Trade Compliance is necessary.
• Strong knowledge of freight forwarding and customs brokerage operations is essential.
• A thorough understanding of Malaysian Customs regulations, import/export procedures, and FCZ regulations is required.
• Expertise in Incoterms 2020, rules of origin for ASEAN Free Trade Agreements, and customs valuation is expected.
• Working knowledge of international trade regulations such as US EAR or EU dual-use regulations is required.
• The ability to effectively liaise with government agencies including MITI, MIDA, SIRIM, and Customs is essential.
• Knowledge of Dangerous Goods as dictated by IATA and IMDG is necessary.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to make decisions in a fast-paced environment are required.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting domestic and international shipping documents and contracts is expected
