Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a technically strong ICT Design Engineer to support mission-critical data centre projects across hyperscale and colocation environments. You will work within multidisciplinary teams to coordinate ICT designs, support client interactions, and drive design delivery from concept through commissioning.

The role requires 5+ years of ICT design experience, strong infrastructure design capabilities, and expertise across BIM/REVIT/AutoCAD workflows to ensure robust, scalable ICT

Responsibilities

• Produce ICT design deliverables: schematics, detailed designs, schedules, specifications, drawings, RFIs, IFC packages, and BoMs.
• Apply data centre standards (TIA-942, ISO/IEC 11801) in design.
• Coordinate hyperscale/colocation interfaces and provider coordination.
• Support client interactions and design delivery from concept through commissioning.

Your impact

We are seeking a technically strong ICT Design Engineer to support the delivery of mission‑critical data centre projects across hyperscale and colocation environments. The role suits an ICT/telecoms design professional with solid experience producing ICT design deliverables within complex infrastructure projects.

You will work within multidisciplinary teams to coordinate ICT designs across BIM and digital engineering workflows, support client interactions, and contribute to design delivery from concept through construction and commissioning support.

This role requires a proactive engineer with good communication skills, the ability to manage workload across multiple projects, and a commitment to producing robust, scalable, and resilient ICT solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• ICT design deliverables — schematics, detailed designs, schedules, specifications, drawings, RFIs, IFC packages, and BoMs
• Data centre standards — working knowledge of TIA‑942, ISO/IEC 11801, and general DC design principles
• Hyperscale/colo interfaces — understanding of MMRs, white‑space layouts, and lease‑provider coordination
• Systems integration — exposure to BMS, security, and AV integration
• Commissioning support — assisting with FAT/SAT, cabling certification, and QA activities
• Resilience concepts — awareness of redundancy, diversity, and SPOF avoidance
• Digital engineering — BIM/REVIT/AutoCAD coordination
• Client communication — ability to communicate clearly with clients and stakeholders
• Site coordination — attending site as required and do assessment, sign off of installs
• Test and Commission knowledge of Testing and Commissioning of ICT systems

Here’s what you’ll need

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Information Technology.
• 5+ years of relevant ICT design experience for data centres within a consulting or design delivery environment.
• Experience delivering end-to-end ICT solutions for hyperscale data centres, including fibre, networks, security, ELV, DCIM, interconnects, and operational technology, from strategy and design through construction, commissioning, and operational readiness.
• Strong ICT infrastructure design capability, including data centre ICT systems, structured cabling, fibre backbones, pathways and spaces, ICT/comms rooms, LAN/WAN, active networking, wireless/radio systems, security, and building integration.
• Experience in fibre and high-density connectivity design, including MPO/MTP solutions, ODF layouts, and cross-connect strategies.
• Experience producing ICT design deliverables, including schematics, detailed designs, schedules, specifications, drawings, RFIs, IFC packages, and bills of materials.
