Job summary

ThunderSoft is seeking an IC CAD Engineer to join a highly technical semiconductor engineering team in Penang. You will work on custom IC design and simulation environments, enabling AI-powered CAD automation and workflow improvements, with exposure to Virtuoso ADE and Spectre.

You will collaborate with senior CAD engineers and cross-site teams to enhance tool stability and develop regression testbenches, while engaging with EDA vendors to resolve issues and drive automation initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
• Hands-on experience in IC CAD/EDA environments with Cadence Virtuoso ADE and Spectre.
• Experience supporting CAD/EDA environments and engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Support and troubleshoot Virtuoso ADE and Spectre issues across sites.
• Handle JIRA-based CAD/EDA support cases independently.
• Collaborate with EDA vendors to resolve tool-related issues.
• Enable new technology and verify CAD/EDA environments.
• Improve CAD flows for stability, efficiency, and UX.
• Develop and maintain regression testbenches for CAD tools.

About the Role

Are you an IC CAD / EDA Engineer with hands‑on experience in Cadence Virtuoso ADE and Spectre?

ThunderSoft is looking for an IC CAD Engineer to join a highly technical semiconductor engineering team, supporting custom IC design and simulation environments.

This is more than a traditional CAD support role. You will have the opportunity to work on EDA tool enablement, CAD flow improvement, automation, regression testing, and AI‑powered engineering solutions.

What You'll Do

• Support and troubleshoot Virtuoso ADE and Spectre issues across multiple engineering sites
• Handle and resolve JIRA‑based CAD/EDA support cases independently
• Work directly with EDA vendors to investigate and resolve tool‑related issues
• Support new technology enablement and verify existing CAD/EDA environments
• Improve existing CAD flows to enhance tool stability, efficiency and user experience
• Develop and maintain regression testbenches to ensure CAD tool and flow quality
• Collaborate with senior CAD engineers and design teams across different locations and time zones
• Explore and implement AI‑powered solutions and AI agents to improve CAD support and engineering workflows

What We're Looking For

We're looking for engineers with strong hands‑on experience in IC CAD / EDA environments, particularly:

Must-have:

• 4–9 years of relevant experience
• Strong hands‑on experience with Cadence Virtuoso ADE
• Strong experience with Spectre simulation
• Good troubleshooting and analytical/problem‑solving skills
• Experience supporting engineers or design teams in a CAD/EDA environment
• Good communication skills and ability to work with global/multi‑site teams

Nice to have:

• Experience with Perl scripting / automation
• Experience with Claude or other AI agent development
• Experience developing or maintaining regression testbenches
• Experience with CAD flow development / technology enablement
• Experience working with EDA vendors
