Job summary

Berjaya Penang Hotel seeks an Assistant Purchasing Manager to support the Purchasing Manager in overseeing procurement operations and ensuring timely, cost-effective purchasing of goods and services for hotel operations.

You will source and evaluate suppliers, obtain quotations, negotiate terms, review requisitions, and verify Purchase Orders while coordinating with Finance, F&B, Kitchen, Housekeeping, Engineering, and Receiving to maintain quality standards and timely deliveries.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Purchasing Manager in managing the daily operations of the Purchasing Department.
• Source, evaluate, and maintain relationships with suppliers.
• Obtain and compare quotations to ensure competitive pricing and value for money.
• Assist in negotiating prices, payment terms, and delivery arrangements with suppliers.
• Review purchase requisitions and prepare or verify Purchase Orders.
• Follow up on outstanding orders and ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
• Monitor market prices and identify opportunities for cost savings.
• Ensure purchased items meet the required specifications and quality standards.
• Coordinate closely with Finance, F&B, Kitchen, Housekeeping, Engineering, and Receiving.
• Monitor supplier performance and address issues relating to pricing, quality, or delivery.
