Job summary

International Academy of Business and Technology in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Hospitality Lecturer & Internship Coordinator to deliver high-quality hospitality lessons and coordinate student internships.

The role combines teaching with industry liaison, developing partnerships with hotels and monitoring student progress, attendance and performance.

You will support the Hospitality Department's continuous improvement and the student internship program.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Hospitality Management, Hotel Management, Tourism, Culinary Arts or related field.
• Relevant hospitality industry experience.
• Teaching, lecturing, or training experience in a college or training setting.
• Experience coordinating student internships, industrial training or work placements.
• Knowledge of hotel operations, front office and housekeeping.
• Strong written and spoken English.
• Excellent organizational, reporting and record-management skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and common digital platforms.
• Proactive, responsible and able to take ownership of assigned duties.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

Hospitality Lecturer & Internship Coordinator

This is a combined academic and coordination position. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality hospitality lessons, coordinate student internships, develop relationships with hotels and industry partners, and support the continuous improvement of the Hospitality Department.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver engaging theoretical and practical lessons in hospitality-related subjects


• Prepare lesson plans, teaching materials, assessments and student learning activities


• Assess student work and provide constructive, timely feedback


• Monitor student attendance, academic performance and overall progress


• Manage the complete student internship process, from orientation and placement preparation through to completion


• Identify and secure suitable internship placements with hotels, resorts, restaurants and other hospitality organisations


• Follow up regularly with students, industry supervisors and placement organisations


• Develop and maintain productive relationships with hotels and other hospitality organisations
  
• Identify new opportunities for student internships, industrial visits, guest lectures and employment pathways


• Support the effective operation and continuous improvement of the Hospitality Department

About you

• A bachelor's degree or higher qualification in Hospitality Management, Hotel Management, Tourism, Culinary Arts or a related discipline


• Relevant experience in the hospitality industry


• Previous teaching, lecturing or training experience, preferably within a college or training institution


• Experience coordinating student internships, industrial training or work placements


• Knowledge of hotel operations, particularly front-office and housekeeping functions


• Good written and spoken English


• Strong organisational, reporting and record-management skills


• Competence in Microsoft Office and common digital communication platforms
