High Voltage (HV), Senior Electrical Design Engineer

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Electrical Engineer (High Voltage) to join our Engineering team in delivering Utility-Scale Large Scale Solar (LSS), High Voltage (HV) Substation, and Grid Connection projects. This role is responsible for the design, engineering, testing, commissioning and technical execution of HV electrical systems while ensuring compliance with industry standards, project specifications, and safety requirements. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience in both HV Primary and Secondary Design within renewable energy or power infrastructure projects.

Key responsibilities

Design, develop, and review High Voltage (HV) electrical systems for Utility-Scale Large Scale Solar (LSS), substations and power infrastructure projects.

Prepare and review Single Line Diagrams (SLD), engineering drawings, protection & control schematics and technical documentation.

Perform power system studies, including load flow analysis, short circuit analysis, voltage drop calculations and protection coordination.

Design and review both HV Primary (substation layout, transformers, switchgear, cables, earthing systems) and HV Secondary (protection relays, control systems, SCADA, AC/DC schematics, interlocking) engineering.

Select and evaluate HV electrical equipment to ensure compliance with project specifications, safety standards and technical requirements.

Coordinate and support Factory Acceptance Test (FAT), Site Acceptance Test (SAT), testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and system energisation activities.

Collaborate with Project Managers, consultants, contractors, suppliers, clients, and utility authorities throughout project execution.

Ensure engineering deliverables are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with quality and regulatory requirements.

Provide technical support during project execution and resolve engineering issues effectively.

Ensure compliance with IEC standards, TNB Grid Code, Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST) requirements, company HSE policies and engineering best practices.

About you

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering (Hons.) or equivalent.

Minimum 3–6 years of relevant experience in High Voltage Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Substation or Renewable Energy projects.

Hands‑on experience in HV Primary and/or Secondary Design.

Strong knowledge of high‑voltage electrical systems, power distribution, protection systems and substation engineering.

Experience in engineering design, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of HV electrical systems.

Familiarity with IEC standards, TNB Grid Code and Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST) requirements.

Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.

Strong analytical, technical problem-solving and communication skills.

Able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced project environment.

Willing to travel to project sites when required.
