ERS Energy Sdn Bhd seeks an experienced HV engineering leader to head the High Voltage (HV) department. You will own HV design, interconnection and commissioning for utility-scale solar, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and IPP projects, spanning 11kV to 132kV and higher where required.

You will coordinate with TNB, oversee protection and grounding studies, and supervise energisation tests. The role also includes tender support, safety management, and mentoring junior engineers to build

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree in Electrical or Electrical & Electronic Engineering.
• PE/Ir registration with BEM strongly preferred.
• ST Competent Engineer certification or ability to obtain.

Responsabilités

• Lead HV and MV design for substations, switchyards, transformers, cabling and protection systems (11kV–132kV, 275kV where needed).
• Manage grid connection with TNB and PSS, Grid Code compliance and interconnection agreements.
• Review and approve protection coordination, earthing, load flow and short-circuit studies.
• Supervise testing, commissioning and energisation, including witness tests with TNB and ST.
• Support tendering: HV scope definition, cost estimates, clarifications and vendor evaluation.
• Own HV safety: Permit-to-Work, switching procedures and LOTO.
• Mentor junior engineers through structured reviews and competency paths.
• Build department SOPs, design templates and lessons-learned records.

Description du poste

• Lead the HV department and rebuild technical leadership for a team of engineers
• Own HV design, interconnection and commissioning for utility-scale solar, Battery Energy Storage System (“BESS”) and Independent Power Producer (“IPP”) projects.

2) Key responsibilities

• Lead HV and Medium Voltage (“MV”) design for substations, switchyards, transformers, cabling and protection systems (typically 11kV to 132kV, and 275kV where needed)
• Manage grid connection with Tenaga Nasional Berhad (“TNB”) and the Single Buyer: Power System Study (“PSS”), Grid Code compliance and interconnection agreements
• Review and approve protection coordination, earthing, load flow and short-circuit studies
• Supervise testing, commissioning and energisation, including witness tests with TNB and Suruhanjaya Tenaga (Energy Commission, “ST”)
• Support tendering: HV scope definition, cost estimates, technical clarifications and vendor evaluation
• Own HV safety: Permit-to-Work, switching procedures and Lock-Out Tag-Out (“LOTO”)
• Mentor and develop junior engineers through structured technical reviews and a competency path
• Build department Standard Operating Procedures (“SOPs”), design templates and lessons-learned records

3) Requirements

• Degree in Electrical / Electrical & Electronic Engineering
• Registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (“BEM”); Professional Engineer (“PE” / Ir.) strongly preferred
• ST Competent Engineer certification, or the ability to obtain it
• At least 10 to 12 years of HV experience, including at least 3 years leading a team
• Proven delivery of utility-scale solar, BESS or substation projects to energisation
• Hands-on experience with TNB interconnection and approval processes

4) Nice to have:

• Proficient with power system software such as ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory or PSS/E
• Has obtained or is pursuing the following professional competency
• Project Management Professional (PMP)
